Just shortly: Is it possible to upgrade more than one system with the same research?

Doubt it. Research was designed to be very specific.

i think the upgrades done by research (weapons/shields/engines/lifesupport) are basically the same upgrades as were in vanilla a2 but renamed. so they behave the same, they can only have two levels etc. so i think having upgrades do two systems at once might be difficult. i mean it may be possible to have one button do two researches but only display one research, i dont know.

You could use one replaceweapon to research several at once giving the effect of a single upgrade effecting several systems :D

woudln't that only work on the unit that used the replaceweapon? i mean it would work, but i think he wanted a research that would upgrade all ships he had at same time.

The game already upgrades all ships at once, that wasn't the question.

i think his question was could u have an upgrade that upgraded all ships at once, but upgraded multiple systems on all ships. its possible to have a replaceweapon on a ship that upgrades that ship multiple systems. but i dont think its possible to do it to all ships.

i dont think its possible. the way the upgrades work (the upgrades for all units - weapons/shields/engines etc) is unchanged since vanilla a2, they just made cosmetic changes.

Like I said. :rolleyes:  Use a replace wepaon to replace several upgrade pods at once.  you can make replace weapons require reasources and time to work, so just make them place, say three upgrade pods on the map at once, upgrading thise three systems on all ships at once.

Talking about upgrade pods: Why are they not visible when they are built? I do not miss them, just don't know how did you do it  :thumbsup:

Blank SOD makes them invisible, odf code 'invalidastarget = 1' and 'invincible = 1' makes the game ignore them when built. Well, the last one should just prevent it from being killed but that's just a technicality.

Hidden = 1 was used in stock, but apparently isn't needed here.

Another question then: Is it possible to activate nonspecial weapons only by research? For example a Romulan Warbird is equipped with phasers and plasma torpedoes, but torpedoes can only fired if you researched the torpedo technology. Replaceweapon would be an easy way, but as far as I know, it wouldn't affect AI ships, because AI can't use replaceweapons.

AI doesn't use replaceweapon, but build refits directly from the yard after doing the research.
