Hey I didn't think this should really go under the Game Balancing because I assumed it was a mistake
.
The Officer T-15 now has the implosion generator that fires an AOE charge at long range, doing extra damage to small ships.
The AOE seems to have no cap on it and will actually strip the shields off of any number of Kbeajq and Sangs. Those were the ships I was using when I noticed this, and granted, Klingons have weak shields, but not having a cap meant that every single ship in the nearby vicinity lost it's shields at the VERY BEGINNING of battle. At long range ...
Was the no-cap on targets intentional? It seems to be a mistake to me as this was EXCEEDINGLY strong, even against medium sized ships that I fielded to counter it. The overall damage output was enormous.
Bug?

Yeah, I noticed this when a Vet and an Officer came at me supported by S-7's ... Uff.
Quick Switch to Vorcha let's you mass-polaron a single Vet and kill it, but even against the Medium's it just took the big fleets of small units apart.

Sounds balanced to me.

Oh, and who was coming at you with S-7s? I haven't seen those in ages online.

Sutee has a new strat of goign STRAIGHT to S-7's. I hate to admit it but it's remarkably feasible on a map any bigger than tiny.
The Prot takes FOREVER, yes, but even if you build as quickly as possible and throw everything you can make at it, you generally can't stop it from being built. Once the Prot is out it's remarkably powerful due to it's passives. If another gets out it will rank very quickly.
Even in a 2 v 2 it was very difficult to actually stop it.

Is he using anything else? I mean... just a few (5-6) of the counter units (S-2, B'rel, SuS'a', Monsoon etc) can easily make swiss cheese of an S-7 at a fraction of the cost. This reminds me back in the day when people started trying to quick tech to Breen Battleships ....

Well in the Klingon game I had pressured him very early when I saw that he had gone Large Yard first. To compensate he went ahead and built T-15's instead. I couldn't destroy EVERYTHING fast enough so a few of those got out.
We were playing "Old Space", which has horrendous pathing issues right in the center and long haul in between the bases. This meant that repairing my ships and bringing up reinforcements was difficult. I made dutiful use of the slight green neb basically INSIDE his base but a couple of T-15 could sit there and seige Kbeajq.
Because of the Ablative they could sit by the shipyard and repair as soon as they needed without much trouble from the B'rels or Kvort's. Starbase prevented me from getting too close so I started stockpiling KBQ with Drone to try and pop them before they could repair. Sadly one of them had ranked up to officer by the time I had a good fleet of KBQ and about 4 Sangs as well (I had used his tech up strat to occupy all three moons pairs on my side). The reason I posted this was because the very moment my fleet (wihch I assumed would be decisive as he had only 1 pair and 4 T-15) was hit by the thing's AOE ability. It stripped the shields off all 10 units immediately and then the other T15 started to clean up. I popped a couple but was really very confused as to what had happened. I did actually manage to pressure them back and killed all but the Vet, but by the time I got back to his base to finish him he had 2 perimeters ... Zzzzzzz
I assure you, I couldn't believe it ... he had made the first perimeter at his expansion because the map's starting moons basically get the starbase's protection. So here I am with all small ships facing A Perimeter with Charges and 2 Officer T-15 with broken AoE v. small ships. Vorcha helped that and KBQ as well but really it gave him the time he needed to get the S-7s out behind the AOE killers as I had to switch production as quickly as possible. I even killed his Prot but he had a full que of them lined up already so it was really moot
.
Moved up quickly into Vorcha/Neghvar to deal with the S-7/Perim strat, even got the Moqbara and Ion Cannon but by that point he had a pair of Hypers ... ZZZZZZZZzzzzzz.... Online play you just can't really avoid them because reaction time + lag + acceleration is just too slow.
His other "S-7 Rush" game was a 2 v 2 against Tyrus and I as Feds while he and a Rommie Xerjel faced us on Star Traffic. Not being as big or over-resourced as Old Space, we immediately saw that he skipped the T-15's and went stright to S-7. We pounced on him with early fed ships and ate his exp, catching the Prot right as it came out. We even managed to kill it, but needless to say he had a whole line of them. Xerjel did a good job backing him up, and we won because we controlled too much of the map.
