i installed armada 2 then i installed the latest version of fleet operations

i read that in order for it to run under wine i must use a nocd so i download a full 1.1 nocd and placed it in the data folder

fleet operations starts fine but when i try to launch a game is says "'You need your own CD to play"

I use a virtual CD mounted with Daemon Tools on each LAN pc. No CD cracks have caused this issue with me in the past so I had to find a way around it.

virtual drives arent really an option since im using linux/wine and wine has issues with the cdcheck

hence the reason you need a nocd to play the game under wine

Hmmm...

FO installs automatically the 1.2 Armada II unofficial patch, if I'm not mistaken.

The no-CD crack only covers up to the official 1.1 patch.

You might need to acquire an original Armada II CD to play under Linux/Wine.

again according to the post i have read it does not work with the original cd under wine

apparently wine is not compatable with the armada copy protection so it fails to work even with a legit cd

I bet it gets the FO installer to run without the actual disc. Which raises the question: is the FO installer packaging files it shouldn't?

No, none of that.

Ah, i'm relieved then. :) I won't pry... :D

Yeah, don't worry, the FO installer certainly requires the A2 disk to grab the files - none of the original copyright protection has been changed by the Devs :)

you can also use an installed version of armada2 to get the required files for Fleet Operations to launch, the installer should give you that option. Make sure that its an unmodded install, though.

The installer can not be made stand-alone for obvious reasons ^-^
