I did notice it is hard to make it work, but I cannot remember if they did not use it at all.  I will have to confirm this.

Defensive Patterns work for me. any detial in which situation and which avatar (or mixed tech) configuration was not working?

Avatar: Risner ( Have any of you seen the Avatar Series?)
Config: Normal, with two weapons upgrades from my Engineering.
Was in a large battle against Rommies. The Roms were AI.

Ive encountered this bug as well but was slightly different. When you change one to veteran after you have used the ability the Akira stops recharging energy preventing you from using the ability again.

I've encountered when I used the special ability, it crippled my ship. And to the point here it had 1 point of health and all systems were disabled. Optec, can you look into that?

It is a bit hard to look into an issue when you don't give all the details about a strange bug that no-one else has encountered.

It's best to only report bugs that you can reproduce so the Devs have something to go on. Currently, it sounds like an unlikely bug, and as far as we know, something else might have happened at the same time to produce that effect.

All bug reports are always welcome, no matter if they can be reproduced or not.

I have checked all files that could cause such a bug, but i cant seem to find a problem. Perhaps your veteran akira lost its weapon system?
