I think Tholians should go in cause you never see anyone do them in a mod not to mention a game!

Optec, I'm wondering... Are you guys also using stuff from Star Trek licensed sources (i.e. books and games), or are you just sticking to the bare-bones facts from the shows?

IMHO they are, (I know I am not optec ) because of the referencing of the Breen and Tholians... but I think they are picky because not everything is included (read time-traveling ships etc). Plus some of the ship designs in Flops (I think) can only be seen from canon-ish books and not the movies so...

The Fleet Operations universe is based on cannon show-stuff only, but during the last years it developed more and more into its own world :)

How in-depth do you plan to make the storyline?

Oh, yeah.  Since you guys (*cough* Optec) seem to be viewing this thread, I might as well point out that people are begging for updated screens and that there's a lady in the Excelsior II news thread who says she has a better design and that she'll model it.  (It is a good design, btw)

Just in case you guys missed it.

Thoalian, Breen, Gorn. as much as they are apart of the star trek universe they are not really Powers, most of the information on all of them are based on mid 22nd, early 23rd century from the exceptions of Kazon, and Breen  I don't see how you could create campaigns based in a post nemesis universe even when they are regarded as so insignificant during the TNG Era. I thought it was a pretty bad idea of maddoc putting in species 8472, it was a cool idea. but did they really work? I don't think so. dont get me wrong they make good story line but not playable races. I wouldn't mind seeing like a timeship Aeon randomly appear like the ferengi and cause a head ache to both teams during a map, kinda like natural disasters in Sim City.

you already have the Dominion which consists of Breen, and formily and probably Cardassian in the next version. is that canon? Dominion is if not disbanded but dead, I doubt the Breen are going to remain apart of the Dominion if it even exist (remember, odo was sent to "teach" his people) when they lost every piece of territory they gained during the final moments of the war. BUT if these are just "races" you could cheese it out and separate Cardassian Union, Breen Confederacy, Kazon. then you got Fed, Kli, Rom, Borg, Breen, Card, Kaz. say what you want about Kazon, you can't deny it. they got more air time than any baddie and they are from another quadurant like the dominion, so get that alphas only attitude out of here

I would love to see the Breen.

They are, even after the Dominion war, a powerful threat to the Federation. While the Dominion War technically ended, the 'Breen' never stopped fighting. You'll find in several Star Trek books and one or two movies, word that the Breen still attack federation vessels. They're not a happy race.

They still have their tremendous manpower, and I'd love to see them developed as a full, playable race. The breen are my favorite, and my love for Star Trek grew after I got to see them attack Earth. Directly. Crazy.

Oh, and to respond to you, Calvary, the Breen are a power. They match the Federation in strength, and the only opposing force they hate more than humans are Klingons. After the Romulans, the Federation and the Klingons joined forces, the Breen completely abandoned the Cardassians and the Dominion. Why? Because its more strategic to surrender and save your ships then lose them all and start over. They're a confederacy afterall, and their ships are incredibly strong. They're more than a 'power' they're a threat to the federation.

It even states in Memory Beta- The Breen Confederacy remained an object of concern for many in the Federation following the war.

I like both races, the mystery is just awesome.  With that said, Breen might be easier, as thanks to DS9 we know a rough idea of the ship design.  ENT and TOS saw only a similar type of Tholian ship, although... it'd rock using the web on ships/stations :P.  Either one, basically.
