This thread reminds me of the Valiant, specifically that the trained crew were even worse than Red Squad.

I always assumed the Galor has similar phasers to the feds but we constantly see torpedos going though their shields, mabye feds have better shields and torps.
Yeah but ... that's because DS9 only used shield animations when it was convenient (like on the Defiant). TNG used shield animations ALWAYS but DS9 went for a more action-packed look which shieldless ships tended to support.
And dont go quoting 'The Wounded' when the admiral said they werent ready for a war ... we all know that was 'post' Wolf 359 and the feds were still rebuilding.
But ... what does that have to do with anything? The quote was in reference to the strength of a vessel. Just because the Enterprise wasn't a "Warship" doesn't mean it can't be a good comparison. Anyways ... it's the ENTERPRISE! Always stronger than a Galaxy War-Refit .

Oh, and all the bug ramming is reused. And a bunch of other stuff, as well. Maybe they should have saved time and stuck the entire SoA fight scene unedited, and the Defiant has to "break through the lines" to Cardassia Prime for some reason. They could have just had the actors come in and dub over their lines.
I should be in Hollywood!
that reminds me of the one where a bug rams a Vorcha. The camera cut to a hull breech scene inside the Vorcha where a Klingon warrior was being sucked through a corridor. That scene was reused from Generations when Riker and Worf went through th painstaking business of forcing the Duras sister to cloak, when they really could have riddled them with phasers and photons and smashed through their shields.

If i recall that particular sequence was actually taken from the undiscovered country when chang bites the dust

Generations took the Explosion itself from there I think, so the corridor rape probably was too.

Star Trek is replete with examples of re-using footage. The destruction of Chang's Bird or Prey in the Undicovered Country was re-used as the destruction of the Duras bird of Prey in Generations.

I stand corrected . I'd bet that Klingon dude is somewhat tired of being continuously blown up.

Each time they reuse it, he gets another honorable death in battle. Regarless of the commanders goals, it's still a death against superior forces.

Yeah...
To be honest it's because tiny (less than 2 seconds) shots like that Klingon biting it are VERY expensive to set up and shoot. My guess it that Generations was running out of money from all the different locations and sets they had to use (Generations really was full of different settings) so the final battle did some "Borrowing" to save on costs. Keep in mind that the final climax's were supposed to be Kirk and Picard fighting Soren, the Enterprise eating dirt on Veridian 3, and yada yada yada so they likely didn't feel lke putting much of their budget towards a Klingon ship blowing up.

I see your logic... but it's still a cop-out. planning the budget is a very important part of modern hollywood productions. It's likely they planned to use 'stock-footage' from the beginning. Thinking the audience wouldnt be able to tell the difference.

Lol you would be AMAZED at how often movies go over budget and have to start making "sacrifices" and "trimming costs". Truly amazed you would be.
Just by re-watching Generations: they had too many characters that require higher pays (both casts ...,), too many different sets, too many CGI effects in the Nexus Ribbon, the Enterprise-B, the destruction of the Enterprise-D, blah blah blah ... once they got to blowing up ANOTHER Bird of Prey they were probably forced to say "Fuck it." We've got a great one lying around. Use that.
