I've held off from posting on this thread for a while, but I'm going to share my two cents. To start off, I don't like what this thread has devolved into, I don't think it's inviting to people dropping by our forums, and I don't think it's a good look for our community.
Re-guarding the topic of game status. As far as the Ezengine goes, the rumor that it is not being worked on is not accurate. If you look on their GitHub they are still makings changes/addition to the engine. Additionally i've talked to a few folks on teamspeak/discord and determined that the origin of the rumor was due to a miscommunication, the Ezengine is still being worked on. However that is only one part of it, the other part is FlopsNX. There has been a lack of "official posts" on NX, the last one being in 2015, over two years ago. One year ago there was an update from Doca where he said

The devs have been very consistent since the beginning of flops that they were not going to promise dates of release, that they would show stuff when it was ready. There were periods between the betas, 3.0pr, and 3.0 where we waited long periods of time for release. Given the post by Doca, the post by Dominus, the money they spend to pay to keep the forums up, and their commitment to flops for nearly 15 years, I think that Flops is in development, and they will show something when the graphics engine is up to specifications. It has been a long time since 3.2.7 came out, but they are working with new engine, and now have the ability to implement new features they couldn't even dream of doing with the old engine. I think its understandable that it is taking a long time, and will be more than worth the wait.
As far as their updates or lack of updates; I understand the want for information. I want updates too, I want to know whats going to be in the next version, and what cool stuff they are going to do. However, what I really want is for the game to come out, and status updates are not going to change that. If it takes 5 years, then that's how long we have to wait, and I don't think that status updates really make that wait any easier for me. Personally I don't mind not having constant updates, they've show consistency on their update policy, a commitment to the game for 15 years, and I believe they will show us something when they are ready.
To add to that, this is a hobby of theirs, its not a job. I'm sensing a small amount of hostility to the devs (not singling out any one person, I'm just generalizing) and I don't quite understand where that is coming from. I get that we want updates, but we don't need updates, and we are certainly not owed updates. This is their project, they put the time and money into it, and they get to decide what they want to do with it. The rest of us don't contribute to the actual game design, fleetops is their work. Most importantly is it probably secondary to the rest of their lives, and it should be, it's not something they should spend all their time on so that we can have it faster. I am grateful that they have allowed us to play the game for 15 years, and have helped foster this community. We have had a great community here, and I have enjoyed the many hours of games and fun I have had with people here.
To continue on that last thought, although I have no doubts that Flops NX will be released, I don't think it matters if it is not released. We already have a great game (flops 3.2.7) to play and a great involved community. Funnystuff has organized a great tournament with a donated cash prize, and a good number of competitors, including alot of Flops players who have been away from the community for a while. Tryptic is doing some real nice work with his mod and getting support from people like Mighty and Shadow with testing. Defiant is working on a nice re texture project for flops. Drone, Zap, and Tryptic (where he isn't modding) are pushing out some great commentaries. We have a Discord now where people can schedule games. And of course, we have a great number of players both new and old who are playing games. If players are just waiting for NX then they are missing out on a great community and game that they can join right now! Come join us and play! We need more players, commentators, modders, and map makers. There is plenty of fun to be had currently.
Those are my thoughts. I'm grateful for this current game, I do think NX will come out at some point, I'm sure the devs will update us when they are ready to, and I'm excited to play some Flops 3.2.7 games and do some commentaries. (please get your tourney games done the first round is almost over!)

We have the core systems working. Things like ship physics, networking, teams, lobby, resources, ship/station construction, ship avoidance, yard docking, ship repair, ship ai, game menus etc, a lot more. These are mostly in a final state. However i am certain many still require tweaking here and there. We haven't built a system for ship/station/weapon upgrades yet, while the modules are already prepared to accept these. There are other crucial things that aren't done yet like player ai. Our current task is to look into the graphics engine now. After that, we hopefully can show the first screenshots of the game. The last month or so we haven't had the time to work much on FO, since we are mostly busy with other real life stuff. That will change in the new year i hope. However, it is still a long way to go for FONX.
