I'll take part in this thread derailment and point out that the Plasma Coil is not AoE.

Plasma Coil and Radiation Array split damage over all valid targets, which is the bastard child of AoE and only truly effective when used against 1 lone enemy ship.  I hate that game mechanic.  I hate it soooo much.

akshully it is. aoe is anything that effects multiple targets based on area. plasma coil does so.

also coil is good against small ships when used in numbers. the best use is to clear away a horde of bugs.
