According to the Blog, the new Galaxy is finished and the Seperation is planned, I just have one question about the Seperation.

It says if you can get a surviving half back to base, the full ship will be resorted. What I'm curious about is how that part works.

Well.......

I thinks that if you have shield damage when you split up than the shield damage is distributed to both parts.

Any hull damage and lost systems is also distributed.

Not exactly what I was asking about.

That might be it. Though the Stardrive section could be Warped-In.

I think it would be great if they made the galaxy buildable again. After all, if the FO timeline is around 2380s the galaxy's service time would be abiut 20 years which is not that much in star trek terms. And let's not forget that the class underwent a series of major upgrades prior to the dominion war(the Venture refit).

The warped in galaxy is kinda IMBA, if you get one early in the game your enemy is pretty much screwed if you rush him with your current fleet while the galaxy provides support.

Well, how ever the devs do it it gets done. Maybe there is a shipyard that has it where you can build new half-parts and be able to have the new half reintrograted with the original other half. But it has to be made where you cannot build a saucer if there is a built stardrive out there. Plus make it a bit pricey so it is more economical to build a whole ship than building the halves seperately.

yeah, and i already read the following posts, and i could swear, that this thread will turn into another discussion about how cool it is, what they should do or not do, how it should be balanced and all of those lil nitpicks (plus the involved arguing like every trekdiscussion :D)

QFT

Anyway, I hope that when the Galaxy is repairing, it will take some time to rebuild the other half--not just an instantaneous "here's your brand new ship" thing.

Sounds kinda lame. Honestly unless there is some major stat boost, I will probably not be using Saucer Separation. And i've never really understood the fascination with it. It was seen in all of what?! One Episode of TNG and the Generations Movie... Really?!

Oh well at least I know it will be integrated beautifully and seamlessly at the capable hands of the FO mod team...

Try reading the Blog entry...and it was actually in at least 3 episodes, each time it proved it's use.

But, that's not the point.

*facepalm*
Refer to Tyler's post :D Since it is going to be integrated, I'd prefer that it doesn't allow you to instantly make a brand spanking new Galaxy when your repair the automatically seperating Galaxy (it gives a chance of seperating when nearly destroyed). What's lame about that?

if I remember correctly, saucer separation was used 3 times in TNG. In "Encounter at Farpoint", "The Arsenal of freedom" and "Best of both worlds". And in Generations of course
