I doubt a large class vessel will get mixed-tech benefits.

why not  give it  a Borg mixed tech upgrade ability  like a limited jump (Trans warp) limited to  1/3 of the  total size (distance of the map). or a  or  booster pack  for the ship that gives  it a boost of speed as well  a upgraded power core  for the weaponds. in effect  doubleint the offensive and defensive values for  30 seconds  to 1 minute.  after the elapsed time the  boster has to be  ejected since it is  burnt out.  a cost of the boster could be 4000 Dilithium and 2500 tritanium , that  would balance it out for  play.  or give the  Dominion Dreadnaught weapon to one Negvar.(Qunatum singularity ) .or a Artifical Ion storm torpedo like the  old  A2  Klingon Bortas had.

... because that would be quite overpowered

That's why large vessels don't get any mixed tech bonuses (discounting the Dread of course).
