So I guess that's a "no" on making it a map object?  :crybaby:

haha, I guess maybe in your personal mod but I think Dominus has summarized the Dev feeling towards the old descent model.

I don't think the old Descent-class is ugly, the ship still has to have some use to it, at least it will for my mod, along with the newer version too. Both are going to most likely become some kind of support ship, possibly for escorting Cargo Ships and their convoys, at least for the Federation that is.

I think 'escort' can be safely ruled out. Mostly destroyers would be used for that, this thing is closer to a battleship.

That would be true for a standard map, but for these two ships, they would have to escort these cargo ships through a warzone, even with one or two Desent-classes escorting the cargo ships at least 2 or 3 out of a fleet would arrive at their destination.

This has to do with the Fourth Campaign that I'm creating for Star Trek Armada II though, lets just say that its a major warzone and the Dominion is back looking for revenge and this time they have even deadlier allies.

Dear God, just kill that hideous abomination and all of its 17 fricken' deflector dishes (I counted).  If you want a map object, how about the awesome Dreadnought it was based on?

I don't know, it's kind of grown on me. ^-^  I wasn't strongly advocating it, I'm certainly not going to lose sleep over it.  Actually, it would be really funny if it was in a campaign mission, and someone made a joke about no one liking the design (except for that one stupid guy :ermm:). :D

I was part of the original torches-and-pitchforks mob, so I'll stick to my guns.  Frankenship was bad enough without a Frankenship zombie...

I like it. Never really saw the problem with the design.

Reckon that just because most hated it, everyone hated it? I even said back when it was in that I didn't have a problem with it.

Oh, I'm not saying it's universal... but it is one of the only issues ever in which I have no sympathy or understanding for the other side, and instead view them with an odd detachment, much like the sort you experience while ogling strange creatures in the zoo's reptile house.

DOCa Cola wrote:hehe. the good old descent. her background story was that she was put together from parts of other unfinished or battle damaged vessels. the idea or better said the resulting design wasn't liked by many back then - which i can understand. the vessel itself was inspired by the dreadnought that is/was featured in starfleet command and klingon academy.

I remember that dreadnought, thank god for the new model tho
