Final Frontier II updated to Version 1.1!
I'm very excited about this because people (including myself) have wanted to play it for a long time without success due to the Wormhole issue. Nowadays it happens sometimes and not, so I recommend agreeing beforehand to either use it or not.
Changes:
Boy ....
Well I'm too lazy right now to go over a detailed list of changes. Basically I updated it to fix a few balance errors and to make it conform to the lines we've all sorta drawn about maps in 3.1.5. If you recall, FF2 I believe was made in 3.1 to take advantage of the faster movement speeds of interceptors
. That was a while ago!
Mutaras are gone. Sorry.
Small bands of fluid nebula now replace the Mutaras. Borg can and SHOULD use them to their advantage. Don't just use the shield cutting property, but use the fact that you can go through and cut your travel time around an obstacle while shielded ships will have to go around.
All moons are now mathematically (or as close to it as possible) equivalent. I feel that the map still has it's asymmetrical feel to it though
.
Some terrain obstacles have been moved / adjusted in order to balance out the travel times and hindrances for top v bottom. Careful attention was specifically paid to the areas around the wormholes so that the solo players are no longer at the whim of 2 or 3 man fleets popping out, crushing the exps and escaping. Doing so now will be more difficult.
Green Nebulae were balanced to prevent massive fleets from abusing them. The middle Neb is still large, but since it's the middle of the map it is actually not going to be as useful as it might seem. Most battles actually take place around the wormholes or along the left/right walls, so the middle is often a place you'll find yourself out of position.
Good luck and have oodles of fun!
