Does anyone know where I could find a good Aurora Class model? I've recently been thinking of adding a Stargate ship or two into FO as map units.

Any links to one would be appreciated.

Side question: Was Aurora the original Lantean name or did the SG team name it after the first of the Class that they met?

Aurora is the name of the first atlantian battleship that SGA found and they called all the others by that name. However the show does not elaborate on what the Ancients actually called them

Am I the only one who expected an ancient warship to be sleeker and less utilitarian?  Their cities and technology are all super clean and pleasing to the eye, but one of the most fearsome battleships known to man looks like it was pulled out of a junkyard and refurbished somewhere.

i think its a nice realistic design, no sticky-outty bits like nacelles to blow off.

on the naming side, i prefer to call them aurora-type, cos the class name was never revealed, the ancients may not even give class names. also the ancients named their ships in their own language, aurora is a translation obviously. i also doubt the aurora was first of the class as it was still operational at the end of the war.

I agree with Myles and Dom on this one, they do indeed look like junk yard ships  :sweatdrop:

They probably were junkyard ships. The Lanteans weren't really warriors so their ships at the time would likely science-based ones that looked good and only had enough weapons to defend themselves rather than fight a war, the Aurora-type was probably an old ship from before they were a universal superpower and didn't focus on looks as much.

The Federation often used junkyard ships in war, and the Lantean approach to war is likely to be quite similar to their's.

Destroyed in battle. There were 2 enemy ships and they had to give up the shields to fire. They destroyed one ship before the other fired at them.

It didn't stand a chance against the second ships attack.

The inside looks very much like Atlantis however you would not know that from the outside.
