What special weapons? It should have enough energy to use them and wouldn't be in the 'valid targets' list that some weapons use.

Don't forget a lot of code was changed in 3.1.5.  if your ship had a special weapon you should check the list to see if the classlabel was changed back to stock.

I assume you mean his ships weapons? This Excalibur uses stock Shield Reset and Transwarp.

Actually, the thing is, it will not allow ANY special weapons to be fired from it, or onto it. For instance, Transwarp is "broke", but if I replace transwarp with defiant's fed_critical, still no dice. Icon appears, and I can click it. I get the targeting reticle, but it won't fire. transwarp just causes it to sit there, most other special weapons cause it to fire regular weapons.

It also doesn't appear to work with sp. weapons targeted at it. Newton can't fix it, shield reset don't reset, and to my knowledge, I've never seen the AI use sp. weapons on it.

I looked over the file, and to the best of my knowledge, I adjusted it to "fit" 3.1.4. I want it to be a capitol ship, only one can be built from the yard, no rank gain, and I got that part working (only one, and from a yard, only one rank avail.)

Really weird, I just tested mine and weapons used by and against it all seem to work on my end. Hardpoints are valid and it has enough energy...

How long have you waited until trying the weapons? If you've waited until after it has charged after construction, maybe you've tried to fire at something out of the abilities range? Critical shot is shorter range than the conventional weapons used.

Try something area effect, like the Norways Plasma Coil. If range isn't the issue, then prehaps it's a bug?

Still doesn't work. I have published a 7Z file from my computer if you are interested in looking at it. The link is to my cloud acct., and will lead to a download of excalibur.7z, w/ 3 files inside

I'm not sure the ship is problem, I just copied the files into my game and all specials work just fine. These screenshots show Fighters, Critical Shot and the Engine Overload all working.

I don't know what's causing the problem, but it doesn't seem to be the ship. If you're using 3.1.4, does that mean you're using stock weapons from there or ported from the latest version?

All weapons from 3.1.4, including the fighters file I edited and renamed, so that it could hold an obsene amount. Strange that it works for you, Thanks for testing that out.

NP man, and I really appreciate the mod. The ship is an awesome addition to the fleet.

Out of curiosity, have you made the Excalibur in your game small? It's meant to be a really big ship.

That's just barely over a third the size of mine! I wondered why the ones I tested were so unusually tiny...

One Third? Wow. Thats BIG

I still cant get this to work. It's tripping me out. The only specials I get are the fighters

If special aren't working, why not try another approach to it? Upgradeable weapons or fighters, similar to the Tavara and Starbase, for example.

Yeah, the Excalibur's a pretty big ship and mine's even toned-down slightly (not by much, though). I mean, just look at the size of the BC version compared to a Sovereign:
