Everybody need to go to his blog now and see the awsoem runabout, i personaly am looking forward to seeing it in the game, but wonder about the two varients,

this poses some questions, obviously one has the torpedo one dosent

does this mean different varients and or just different designs which only one will become the real runabout

Also any chance for a delta flyer, id just love to see zeich render that!

I'm guessing that if Zeich decides to texture 'em all, they'll all end up in the game (on the appropriate maps of course)  ^-^

Absolutely love it.  Right now my favorite ship is the Excelsior Mk II but this one would definitely be a close number 2 if release.  I think it keeps in the spirit of the Federation's building habits.  The Miranda class is essentially the centurion or picket ship of the federation and is deserving of a major redesign while keeping the essential elements that make it iconic definitely something you would expect the federation to build after the nightmare of the Dominion war.

I like what the mod team is doing here, the idea being that after a major upheaval the federation would want to go back to something familiar and traditional.  Their build a new class with tested designs, ie the Miranda and Excelsior showing a healthy respect for where they have come from yet are willing to push the envelop of design.  I would also speculate after the problems the Galaxy class had they might be resistant to deviate to far from established design, which has been tested in all conditions, be it war or exploration.

I look forward to seeing what else you come up with.  I hope you consider something with the Constitution class as well, due to its iconic status.  Though I mentioned this else where and will not detract from the topic at hand.  Regardless I look forward to seeing them in action with the rest of the fleet.  I am excited because I see this as a step toward a whole new fleet, where in all the TNG ships are phased out and we get to see a re-envisioned federation based on lesions learned from war.  One gets the opinion that the Federation has sort of lost that early century innocence that the old D crew had which may have manifested due to such a long period without a major conflict.

Finally got to field some, very nice, built nothing but them and Excelsior Mk II's and mopped the floor with the Klingons, the only thing that sucks is I had to ally with the Dominion, whom I hate.

I still think this is the way to go.  Since the mod is set in the 25th century I would like to see a good deal of the older ships phased out.  If a design is really good you can always Mk II it, like the Excelsior Mk II which I think is a excellent ship design.  Add in the Miranda Mk II and your creating a core fleet that is a perfect blend of tested ship design and new technology.

I'm glad you guys like the Miranda II and the Excelsior II.  At some point in the near feature the Excelsior II will get a blog post about its development.

Gotta say, i love that new design you've posted about! although i'd like to say that i think it would look just as cool if you took the model from the WIP-1 shot (without the rear parts of the nacelles) and developed the back some more to have a more inbuilt design i think it would look even cooler!
