we are currently discussing adding advanced detection to a mobile unit - like the scouts. perhaps in a more cost-ineffective way. i should get you more updates on that after we made some test games on sunday :)

Though there is one problem with this... canon... canon wise scout vessels like the Venture probably didn't have detect cloak. Though I'd assume the sovy would (hence in nemisis, the way how Geordi talked about the Scimitar when it was cloaked implied that they could detect standard cloaks).

Besides, these should at least be given to science vessels and support ships. After all, science vessels usually have very good sensors...

Any ship can have Cloak detection, it's just modified sensors (which all ships happen to have by default) or looking for little hints. Scouts are the most obvious choice in a game because they are meant to, you know... Scout.

Of course. you could edit your game to give it to Battleships...

Surely all Fed ships could detect cloak having all the same sensor systems, just different configurations. Then again not all Fed ships have a Geordi La Forge

any news on the status? I just see the project progress task list growing instead of getting smaller ...

we are just adding the some todos for future patches, the critical todos for the next patch are almost done :)

I just read through these posts again, and one thing I'm wondering:  Will we have tachyon scan or intelligence report?  The starbase ability is arguably more useful than the sensor stations, because it prevents a fleet from using cloak to escape.  Most cloaking harrasment on mining gets attacked, then they try and escape, but you scan them and continue attacking.  Also, there are some pricks who will lose a game, but if I wanted to track down their few remaining cloaked ships, can that still be done?

I always wondered why a tachyon scan should decloak ships. Makes no sense at all. The tachyon scan should better be like an invisible sensor node, that exists there for 10 secs.

tachyon scan no longer decloaks ships, but renders them visible. the intelligence report remains untouched :)

You are faster than I can pronounce a wish. You are amazing.  :D Thanks!

I thought that you said intelreports would have a code that says "Intelligence reports cannot see this". And now you say it is untouched? I'm guessing my request has been put off?

you might have mixed something up. Tachyon Pings may miss vessels, the Intelligence Report is still always successful
