We already discussed the veteran vessels in the past newsposts, but havent talked much about the Borg. The collective will get a large redo in 3.0.6 touching many of the game mechanics.

Unusual... will change the gameplay a lot. I wonder how quickly I can select those modules though; guess I'll have to wait and see (it'll be a lot slower than the other races, that's for certain... in addition to the ship building itself).

Interesting that it also makes the individual collective uplink much more vulnerable to destruction prior to finishing construction. I will.... adapt  :borg:

yep, the Collective uplinks defense capability has increased :)

Thats the new Borg feature set for the next patch, however there are more plans for another larger new feature for 3.0.7, so the borg will get 2 content updates  :borg:

So since you are seeing this Optec.... I know this is off topic, but would you still recommend releasing the Borg strat guide this coming weekend? I don't know  if any of the strategies will hold true after this patch(in fact I know some of them won't).  :sweatdrop:

:) excellent.

Look forward to seeing these changes..:borg: :borg:

one question - i noticed in the video that selecting a weapon from the top yielded a different cost than selecting the same weapon from the bottom from the array, could you guys clarify what the range of weapons indicate in the array - from left to right and from top to bottom.... thnx

could you also help me understand what was meant by this: "allowing a player to select all models at once and preview the resulting vessels and its costs before spending resources"..
does it mean a single node cna have multiple vessels being constructed from it?
thnx

That is nice, cant wait for the patch.

nope the resource costs are the same, no mater which module position you chose. Other modules have been changed in the video as well. The costs displayed are the total costs of the vessel, including all modules.

Resources are only spent once you clicked on the final build button, that way you can exactly preview the vessel you will get and play around with different configurations, without wasting resources. In addition you are able to select all modules from one screen, with no delay in multiplayer games.

sounds interesting.

hope the other changes are as well :).

look forward to 3.06.

any idea why we have a full array of modules then...can we outfit a vessel in all module places with just 1 type... the reason im asking, is Im trying to understand an assimilator for example... it has 3 spots... with a max of 2 toprs, 1 mean weapon, 1 assim beam, etc...
now in the image i see 4-5 of each type displayed....

Are those redundant, or is there a purpose....asking out of curiosity...

Also, on clicking confirm in the video, I saw the assimilator starting to build in progression. atm the builds are more spontaneous.... is there some change here...?

So since our ships now take time to build I take it we have a shipping yard?  If the construction facility takes time to build, as well as resources, but goes away after construction, I think it would leave the Borg at a disadvantage.  Feel free to let me know if I'm way out in left field here.

oh no... I was thinking the same thing... but I was waiting to see all the changes which the mods have done for the borg before judging :)

let's see m8, there may be adjustments that would help make borg play really unique.... Im keeping an open mind :D

If I were a betting man, I would wager that if there are build times on the ships, then maybe the collective uplink would be instacast.  This would allow you to plop down a few uplinks, configure them quickly, and go back to whatever you're doing while they build.  Might be much more effecient that way.  If I were a betting man. :shifty:

Very nice video, by the way.  I'm excited for whatever you do with the Borg.

but if build time is increased, there would be supplementary balances that would be needed. Im not one for wagers  :sweatdrop:, but the vid pretty much showed build time.... the configuration interface hasnt changed much.. we still need to click click to select the modules... you may have the ability to do it all from one interface, but as long as a node is one ship at a time the principle is pretty much the same.
The shown changes now indicate a trade up between quicker build times and an interface that gives u a complete view of total cost...

that was why Im waiting to see if there are any defense and offense augmentations that would make the borg worthwhile.. or if everything is stymied to the level that playing borg means micromanaging and building a total of 3 ships every half an hour...lol..... that'd be a blast-- more like a shock...lol - making borg quintessential gatherers of dilithium, trilithium, supply, connections, and in doing all this not be able to engage anyone nor even assimilate (well maybe a sabre here or there) ..

but keeping an open mind. the changes look good now, and it would be very very premature for anyone to say anything further, without knowing the complete picture.. not to mention rude..
:)

Let's see what the mods have in store.. our feedback can help improvements for 3.07.

We are Borg.  Worry is irrelevant.  Concern is irrelevant.  We will adapt.  The collective must grow.  Resistance is futile.

So far, I eagerly look forward to it!
