Don't know if its forbidden to mention in a Trek-based board haha, but the 3d-animated Star Wars Clone Wars series that's been out lately is surprisingly good. Definitely worth watching.

The Clone Wars is ok as long as you don't care about how much Star Wars canon it changes.

I've heard that Babylon 5 is really awesome...haven't really watched it yet, though. Or you could go for Sanctuary, it's Amanda Tapping's personal show, I hear it's pretty sweet. Though...you have to get past watching Carter with a Brit accent...to me, that's just odd.

My Hero is a damn good series. And it's Sci-Fi, so it counts.

Doctor Who is pretty good (new series, haven't seen the old one.) Battlestar Galactica almost is, but it goes over the top with drama (and religion, to the point that the last hour of the last episode is basically Luddite (technophobic like the Amish) televangelism) in the new series, and a bit too much narm in the old series. Futurama is a funny one, it's like Simpsons in future and space, but more funny.

I think I heard once about how when Doctor Who was first being offered to a network in Britain or something, one of their mock pitches to the network was a knock knock joke.

You'd be like, Knock Knock. Who's There? Dr.

And so forth.

one of the better knock knock jokes I've heard. I'm pretty sure the series used it, because I heard it from a guy who watched Doctor Who a bit. So he must have got it from somewhere, or made it up himself, but I doubt that. The series probably put it in somewhere, would have liked to been there when they first made that joke, instead of hearing about it second hand.

Battlestar Galactica, overall was a great series. But as for being sci-fi, it's a lot less superficial than most around (actually has substance, instead of being a show by show case of wow look what fiction can do). I'd vote it as being the best bet. Good direction for sci-fi to go. Great acting, good story lines, a few stretches here and there, but that is no surprise. Overall, a genuinely good show.
