One thing I've never been able to settle on is the name of this Class. I've always favored Sabre, but does anyone know if the name was ever covered in canon?

Saber is the most common spelling that I have seen for the ship, so it's probably that.

actually the sword can be spelled either way, sabre is common in britain and commonwealth countries. saber in america.

the star trek encyclopedia uses sabre a lot. i say it dont really matter, they should flip a coin and just be consistent. as long as they dont spell it saboor.

I know what Memory Alpha calls it, but they said it was for consistancy rather than claiming that is the undisputed name.

Sabre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

wikipedia says so!!!!!!
dont argue with wikipedia or your knowledge will be added to their own :assimilate:

it comes from french where it would be sabre. as saber would be: sa-bay, an infinitive verb most likely :P (which i doubt exists)

To me if your American, it is Saber. But if your british, than it is Sabre. To me I kinda switch between them because they both mean the same to me. :)

u didnt read the post i was replying too, so your ":P" was incorrect.
the question from tyler was if the sword sabre/saber could indeed be spelt both ways, i cited the wikipedia article as proof that both spellings are acceptable, as sabre is british english, which being older and more connected to french uses the french roots. saber is american english as american english usually switches to more phonetic spelling.

your lexicological distinctiveness will be added to our own :assimilate:  :borg: :borg: :borg:
