I may have found a bug not identified. Had a Borg ship completely invisible attacking a sensor station and any nearby ships. I could not target the Borg ship nor did my ships react to being attacked by it.

interesting, could you give more details of that.

was the borg ship cloaked? in a nebula? were there nebulae nearby? what map? did your sensor station have sensor system disabled?

I have seen a thing that bothers be since many versions. If I capture a ship and let it fight against the same ship of the other race, my ship is weaker.

I have experienced this with borg ships (game vs. AI on free tech) and it seems to be the case with non-borg ships too. I dont know what the reason may be. Maybe its worth a check.

Also the AI doesnt seems to build stations again after you destroyed a bunch of them. My intuition tells me, that the build-order may be broken. I've played on Nirvana-II and the federation AI didnt build up a large yard while in the game before, it build many of them and even did expansions.

Would be nice to see a "build at least xtimes station y" in a subroutine, so that the AI will continiue to build up stuff, even if it lost the seconday base.

Are you sure that the crew level is in the green zone?  Yellow, and especially red, will cause the vessel to have a reduced firing rate, and shield/hull repair rate.

For Borg, it's almost definitely the crew level as the Borg require only a few drones for the vessel to reach it's full potential.  Other factions will require significantly more crew on the same vessel to reach full potential.

Nirvana-II has some resources very close to each other and the AI will head for the nearest expansion, not the most tactically sound expansion.  If the AI try to expand at an enemy expansion, the constructor will be destroyed and the AI will keep trying to expand there until they get the station to full capacity.  On your next game, push "Alt+V" to remove the fog and see if this is the case.

That has already been implemented in stock A2.

i know the ai builds some ships already ranked. but also i think that there may be a damage multiplier in effect depending on difficulty. so it's quite possible your ship is weaker cos the ai has a multiplier making it do more damage to you.

i've seen that too, many patches ago, i think its not a bug, just that fixing the ai isnt a priority.

Thanks for the interest and to answer your questions:
Was the borg ship cloaked? Dont believe so. It was firing weapons and specials and you could see those hitting my turrets, sensor, and ships but could not see the Borg vessel.
In a nebula? No, I had built an outpost in the center of the map. Clear area.
What Map? It was a saved game on map Final Frontier II
Sensor disabled, no. I had the sensor and two torpedo turrets next to it. I also took an entire fleet of ships to that location and they were fired upon and assimilated but could not respond to the Borg vessel.

The borg ship withdrew on its own, thank goodness because it could have attacked everything, lol.  I'll let you know if it happens again.

thanks for the details. that's very weird, i've never heard anything quite like it. let's all keep an eye out for it.

could you describe in more detail what you mean by the ship being invisible. do you mean the weapons were originating in what looked like empty space, just coming out of nowhere? that must have looked funny.

Will definitely watch for it and yes, the weapons were originating from empty space and out of nowhere. It was hilarious and spooky at the same time because there was nothing I could do about it, lol.
Hopefully it was a glitch versus a bug and just a one time deal.

Thanks again.

just as a side note if ever the ai is having that bug and annoying you, try use map editor to delete the offending invisible ship. control+e starts map editor.

Was this near a wormhole by any chance? Or had the Borg ship gone through one recently?

Possibly, my outpost was at the middle of the map between two worm holes. The borg ship may have gone thru it. Dont know.
