Careful, if you dare say a few balance items are out of whack you get labeld a troll and your threads get randomly trolled in return.

Please show me a game that is perfectly balanced and more complex than pong.

I think it's hilarious if these passives have been triple-applied and we didn't even notice.  Maybe the game actually WAS balanced very well but we've been playing with an ultra-slanted version of it, so the "hard counters" aren't nearly as hard as we thought.

Dom I checked the ODF and projectile weapons don't suffer any damage reduction for medium or large ships, making them much cooler to me than before.

Also, I know it's only been 5 minutes but I want to ask again, what do those lines in the odf mean?

EDIT: ohhhhh the turret projectiles use pulse rules, while the frigate projectiles don't.  Now I wanna check the officer leahval projectiles...

I really don't think the turret projectiles SHOULD use pulse rules though, that means they're still ineffective against anything that isn't tiny.

Definitely gonna try that out sometime.

Okay, the final breakdown is that turrets and officer leahvals have projectile guns that deal reduced damage to medium and large targets as per pulse rules.  Generix frigate projectiles do not.  Mixed-tech Saeihrs also do not.

Seems that you found another bug then for 3.1.5. Previously all projectile weapons counted as pulses.

These
"borR_datamining.odf" 17.202
"fedU_sensors2.odf" 17.202

are the pods of the research (which are invincible), so guessing just another bug.  :sweatdrop:

Wait, you're saying frigates are mistakenly overpowered and will be nerfed?  Dangit!

...on second thought, they HAVE been dominating lately.  But still, I like them being awesome!  What are we going to do against battleships NOW?

the triple application of some passives, is that confirmed?

Yup - it's all around the board though, so it happens to a variety of units and a list is not practical (in my opinion).

Rebalancing these is going to be quite the job.

They were already balanced for 3.1.4 - it's just a matter of going back to those values. 3.1.5 introduced a lot of background changes, and so such bugs were not to be totally unexpected. :)
