hi, been playing with the new patch for a few days now, and i cant seem to be able to finish games due to frequent crashes. This seems to be happening some time into the games when i build a large number of ships along with the AI and it will crash at a random moment sometimes when i dont even give a command or move the mouse. It seems to happen on any map that i play where there is a drawn out battle, not sure if this issue has been presented yet, but it didnt occur much if at all that i can remember before i installed the patch and ive tried setting the game to the lowest possible settings, reinstalling, etc and it continues to persist

This is what I get as well. "EAccessViolation" error and crash-to-desktop. Seems to be when particularly large numbers of ships are built. I'm playing with all 5 races in Nirvana II (all hard AI).
I've attempted to send a bug report, so I hope it made it

This happens to me as well. 30 min or so into a game it freezes or crashes to desktop.
Since the latest patch, this game causes my processor to overheat. The old version of the game my FX55 ran at about 65c at full load, but once the patch was installed it runs up to 85c then ...CRASH. I have a monitor installed that records the temps even after a crash.
I played the beta for months with no problems and played the 3.0 for quite awhile as well.
I have sent in several bug reports.
I emailed earlier this week as well.
Really fun game. I hope this is something that is fixable.

Hopefully saves will be fixed in the next patch too ![Whistling :whistling:](/forum/images/smilies/whistling.png)
It crashes at relatively interesting times and big fleet battles. I was playing Feds allied with Klingons & Romulans vs 2x Borg, with Dominion as an enemy of everyone (team 3). I was getting owned by the Borg when a huge Dominion fleet turns up and destroys 3 cubes![LOL ](/forum/images/smilies/laugh.gif)
Then it crashed![Cry :crybaby:](/forum/images/smilies/crybaby.gif)
Another thing I've noticed: When the AI Romulans build Tavaras they are already built at Lvl 5 with all upgrades purchased. This gives a very large advantage and makes it difficult to fight AI Romulans

Hey Ivegottheskill,
Just for interest sake, have you tried loading up a temperature monitor. It would be interesting to see if your system is being taxed to the limit.....

I'll check this out when I get home, but I find it pretty unlikely. My PC is a fairly new 3Ghz dual core PC with pretty good ventilation and GeForce 8800GT.
If it was being taxed to the limit I would expect it to cause other problems with the PC (odd glitches and slow response etc.). Having said that it does slow down when the AI launches it's simultaneous rush (which has been a feature of Armada 2's AI for ages). My old computer never crashed in such a way when playing Armada 2, so I would be very disappointed if this was the case >:(

I never had over heating problems either. FX55 with a Platinum X800.
The first time I saw this type of thing happen was with Neverwinter Nights 2. The program just seemed to over work the PC...then it would over heat and crash. This from a rig that in its day could play Doom 3 and Half Life 2 at near full res. without a hicup for hours and hours.
Once one of the later stability patches came along on Neverwinter Nights 2, I never had another crash and the program ran smooth as can be.
In my case, there is no question that it was the patch. I always have the temp monitor running and it alarms if the system heats up. I also played Armada 2, Fleet Ops Beta and Fleet Ops 3.0 for hours and hours with no problems.
