Would it actually be possible to change these to default for the official FO release, I'm not saying to the extent that Psi3 has gone with max_height = 5000, but surely increase it from the default 1850 to say 2500/3000. And possibly the scroll_speed from 3.0 to 8.0 or so, so more of us can have the universe zoomed out more, without being multiplayer incompatible? or different values as you guys see fit

Keep the optional toggle, people who like the window will be happy too.

Dominus, you should put the shortcut in your guide:
"Note that: If you find the cinmatic window or even the whole GUI disgusting, press Ctrl+I until desired settings are achieved."

i have discussed the option of zooming out recently with optec and currently we have no intent on changing these values...
the cinematic view has various flaws. it slows down the game a lot, it doesn't display all models correctly (borg), it jumps so fast between events that you usually don't see sh*t. personally i never found a real use for it, when i'd like to see action close, i use the 'tactical view' instead (the one that allows to orbit a vessel). so with a future patch we plan to remove the cinematic view and make adjustments to the interface accordingly

Sounds good Doca
Indeed Unleash Mayhem, I put it in yesterday: I think I'll use your phrasing though--it is quite appropriate

Oh! Can you also make it that when you toggle the veiw to the 3D "Snapshot" veiw, that no UI stuff appears. I'd like to be able to use that veiw to get a full scrnsht without anything in the way!

If you press Control Alt + P you can get a screenshot without any UI
This is actually now listed in the tips in the load screen now for FO

Stock is starting to look much better now if you can't watch battles while building in FO. That's one of the best things about the game.
There is a reason these things can be toggled on/off. People should be allowed to choose if they want the window at cost of game performance, not be forced to lose something because others don't like it.

You can still get to cinematic view by clicking CapsLock... so I really don't see what the problem is Tyler. All the removal of the window means is.... removing the window. I mean, we can't choose to have crappier graphics, warp, and height in FO; but cinematic view will still be in. Likewise Doca said the GUI would be altered: so maybe things will be a bit more spread out to make use of that extra space--which would be a good thing. Perhaps even larger unit selection etc

Because I like watching battle while working on my base, not watching battles instead of working on the base. Besides, Tactical view looks more boring than the little screen which switches view like a TV would.

Hmm, a valid consideration: I must admit, on several occasions I have noticed a little explosion in the Cinematic Window, and thus jumped to the location on the map because I was being attacked and didn't realize it until then. Generally however, I multitask quite a bit and jump between base and battle a lot... thus the window doesn't usually serve much purpose for me.

Yeah, but IMO overall it was kinda annoying.

Not to me, I never found it annoying. I don't even disabled it. Tried playing without it once, couldn't stand it for long.

Maybe instead of removing it entirely, have it off by default so those who still want it can toggle it back on? (personally i dont mind either way).
