Gah. What have you done to the Borg?!
I cannot play them anymore, this whole new system you put in FO3.0+ with the selecting modules, nothing is more frustrating for me. Whilst I'm busy making cudes and carefully selecting stuff, I'm being raped at another corner of the map. I hope this becomes an option to toggle it on or off, where on is this annoying new system, and off is the default Armada 2 of shipyard --> ship --> pwn. Otherwise I might have to relieve my stress and just play normal A2 :

Ye, why don't you just make all factions similar again so you don't have to worry about which race youplay. They should do the same in such awful titles as Warcraft 3 or StarCraft. >:(
Nah, seriously, the system is great and brings fresh wind into the game and makes the the Borg the most unique race in the entire game. Might be a bit harder to play but that's not different from other good RTS titles.

also dont forget this is a mod, it is your choice to download and play it... if you dont like it then play stock A2

we try to make the factions as different in gameplay as possible. The Romulans for example rely on special weapons, sneak attacks and other nastry tricks. following patches and new features will underline those race characteristics. Playing the Borg its more about chosing the right vessel at the right time, then micro-managing fleets (borg usually have far less single vessels either way). Mastering Fleet Operations is therefore also about finding the race that best fits your strategy and character. If you dont like the Borg gameplay, just try a different race, like the Dominion for example, where construction speed is usually not a problem at all

I loved the borg before, now i don't even want to use them against the AI yet alone against a real player, it is now impossible to beat a half decent player in a 1on1.
Now that the assim costs 27 connections to build it is just impossible, cant beat a fleet with scoutcubes or probes not to mention probes actually costing WAY too much in terms of resources.

Eraldo you have to change your strategy - the Borg are actually super effective. You can't just expect to use the same strategies as before and expect to win.

FO Borg always struck me as the kind of race that would need a lot of practice and experimentation before you can play them against people.

My name and sig say it all. Borg are awesome and only get better with each patch. Though Feds are beast again, they're still no match for me!

Guess it's just different playstyles. I've always found the Borg to be too powerful, whenever either me or my friend plays as them it becomes a game of "see how many kills you can get before the first cube is out, then give up and let the Borg player win".
Perhaps you just need to adjust your strategy OP?

Certainly Fleet Operations excels much more than the vanilla because of the differentiation in races. I actually couldn't pin-point why I really didn't enjoy the sequel until I played FO, which being the simplification of resources and the unique races. However, and I can't speak for Warcraft 3 but, the races of Starcraft are no where similar and quite different from each other not only in terms of units and tech tree, but also the strategies necessary to employ to achieve victory. I think the general feeling is that even being 10 years old the original Starcraft was not and is not anywhere near being an 'awful' title as you put it. Some would even argue it is perhaps one of the best RTS's of all time.

Umm...I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that he was dripping with sarcasm when he said that...

Yeah...good point. I'll just stand over in this corner here and try to be invisible.

Scout Cubes may be a little too fast at the moment I agree. I LOVE that they are fast and agile now, but chasing one down is a HUGE pain in the ass.
On the other hand, scout cubes are NOT overpowered beyond perhaps being too fast. I've already had a GREAT dogfight with Mort early game where my b'rels and Kvorts were wheeling around with his scubes and we both ended up losing about the same. Suddenly this game became Operations with Fleets. RIghteous.

I think the Borg are fine as they are. They are much much better than stock A2. I used to play A2 at my friends house years ago and we'd always ban the Borg because it was too easy to go: shipyard --> ship --> pwn.
The Borg now require a bit of thought to prepare and they offer the most customizable ships in the game; a brilliant gameplay style for a human player to learn and adapt to the ever changing tactics of other human players.
All I'd really suggest, is that if you really want to play as Borg then give it a bit longer to get used to the new play style. Once you're used to the modules you'll be able to roll out cubes with minimal thought.

Getting used to the modules was a bit hard at first, especially in older patches when you could only select one module at a time. Trust me though you'll eventually get used to it once you recognize the module pictures and what they do by heart. You'll be able to spam assimiloters and spheres in just a few seconds at that point.
