Borg Annoy Me
Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

Which is why i'm posting this thread, to see if they intend to change it, or at least option it, or if I do need to go back to default A2.Snapshot_9 wrote:also dont forget this is a mod, it is your choice to download and play it... if you dont like it then play stock A2
I play games to have fun, not to meticulously ponder over if I really need something or not. This is what i feel FO has become for me. I loved FO2, but now, FO is just another annoying modification for me now.

What's so tough about the Borg, seriously? It's just a different gamestyle, and it only takes a few minutes in map editor mode to figure out which models do what
. ...and why on Earth is the Borg the entire reason that FO is now "annoying" to you?

Because the only race I ever played is now ruined by complexity.

Complexity? The Borg have been this way since 3.0 came out - and they are now far more fun than before due to this "complexity". They finally have some actual adaptability

Indeed not to mention al those passives you get

Well, they're not exactly rocket science. Click cube, tick boxes, kill fleets of ships against a frantic micro-manager flicking through specials and positioning ships correctly to take down your one or few ships. Hell, you can even build your cube(s) wherever you like. Seems like a good deal to me. The only slight issue to contend with is managing your early game and managing resources but they can be done.
Somehow I doubt that the Borg will ever return to what they were in stock because let's be honest; A2 wasn't exactly THAT great a game. The mods are always what made it for me, beyond the novelty of controlling rough representations of my favourite ST ships and Picard's voice. Tactics consisted of:
Federation - Bish, bash, bosh, spam Sovereigns.
Klingon - Bish, bash, bosh, spam Neg'Vars.
Romulan - Bish, bash bosh, spam Warbirds.
Species 8472 - Bish, bash, bosh, spam whatever top tier ship they bothered with.
Borg - win.

We probably all agree that Stock A2 was not a very good game. Along came FO and made it awesome. If you don't like to micromanage, its probably not the mod for you. Most pvp games need to be micro managed. Against the ai you can pretty much do whatever you want. And if you can't win against the AI (which means you pretty much fail), just press ctrl-e, f4, f6, then press f12 as many times as you can till your finger bleeds. That's the Mayson turret which if you can't win that way....you really fail.
My point is....its not that hard and there's some sort of micromanagement with every race. If you want less, I'd say pick Feds.

I think he's just sad that he can't make assimilators all day and expect immediate victory. Sorry man. All of the races got turned upside down and changed around a lot. This was a major release. Now they'll start in again on balancing patches that will flesh out the huge changes they made. I might not like this change or that change, but I LOVE the overall effect.

Well I have to say that it's likely a LONG shot asking the developers of a complex and excellent mod to "dumb it down" back to exactly what they started with.
Oh ... and it they agreed to think about it ... I would FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT to stop you.

One voice, one mind, the silence will not change the devs mind! You will adapt. Fun will now commence.

Yup sure will. In the form of Armada 2 Vanilla, where I can actually enjoy the borg, without needing to use brain power to decide what is, and isn't needed, and I can sit back in my chair, and destroy shit easily. Shame really, FO2 was awesome FO3 ruined it for me.Phoenix wrote:Fun will now commence.

not everyone has to like fleet operations. i agree that fleet operations may seem complex to some. remember the 3.0 release? the borg construction system was fiddled together with the replaceweapon and was quite inconvenient to use. we improved that system from version to version so that a new player doesn't look at it and thinks "what the hell do they want from me?".
two weeks ago an old friend from school asked me if i am still working on "that star trek mod" and then asked me where to get it (to note that still was when 3.0.7 was the latest). i think he never played armada 2 or any mod for it before. He came back at me two days later and actually told me that the borg in fleet operations are the only race he can currently manage and likes to play with. i think that is a good sign.

LoL at people who can't figure out video games. I remember my Dad picking up a PS1 controller w/ my uncle and played my copy of NBA 07. They b*tched and moaned for about 15 minutes of the controllers being too hard compared to Atari. After 15 minutes though they figured it out and could play. Bottom line is, if you can't figure out a video game, you're not too bright. Or if you can figure it out and don't like it....do what everyone else does in life....don't play it. Or if its food, don't eat it. Or if its a car, don't buy it. ETC. Don't join the forums of the car dealership or grocery store or whatever and complain about it and ask the Dev's to go back to stock A2 where Borg had shields (JUST LIKE IN TNG!!) and the game pretty much sucked.
