Fleet Ops doesn't run so hot on mine. I don't understand why. It appears that my system stats are better than some of the ones listed and yet it runs really choppy.

I'm using the following.

2.4ghz Intel Celeron
256meg Ram (Suspect this is the problem)
32meg nVIDIA Riva TNT2 Model 64
I'm running the latest version of DirectX (9.0b)
Operating system is Windows XP Professional

I've tried playing with the graphic detail on low, and have only gotten a marginal performance increase.

I read one of the treads about updating drivers. I suddenly realized that I was using the canned windows drivers from when I first built this machine. I hauled butt over to the nVIDIA site and downloaded the latest drivers. Still no luck. I know it is probably something incredibly simple as it always is, and I would appreciate any help.

Also is there a way to view the game in 2D mode (Looking directly overhead) like in Armada II? Or atleast allow me to pull back consideralbly. It seems kind of cumbersome to move around as it currently is. For example on my screen even at 800x600 a construction ship takes up a quarter of the screen and forget about an outpost thats the entire screen.

Thanks for any reply's

Seems to be the graphics card and partly the ram, as well.

I have another PIII 555 MHz here for LAN gaming and it has the same graphics card with similar problems, while it runs just fine on my PIII 933MHz with a GeForce 4 TI 4200 card. Ok, the 555er is slower, but it has more RAM than the 933er.

800x600 is ok when zoomed out. Use your mouse wheel to do so. There is also a thread somewhere around here, where you can find a description how to increase the limit how far you can zoom out (I don't recommend it for you, because it will get even choppier, the more you zoom out).

  • Radeon VE 32MB
  • Window Xp HomeEd.
  • 800x600x16
  • Medium Graphics Detail
