:omg:

er question, why do you need so many moniters? you only have one pair of eyes...right?

I need 3 monitors because I work much with Alias Maya (currently v 7.0 Unlimited) Screen1: 3d view screen2: Tools screen3: Hypergraph (Shaders...).

My most important Programs: AliasMaya(7), AliasStudioTools(12), Combustion(4), After Effects(6.5), Cinema 4d(9), Bodypaint 3d for Maya/Cinema, Mathematica(5), Unigraphics (NX-3), Photoshop(Cs 2.0)

Within the next few month I'll get a new workstation. It is always problematic with Ram, my current WS can only handle 8GB max. and this is not sufficient for some of my projects. (I'll post the specs' as soon as I get the new WS)

I still did not take the promised pic of my WS and Fleetops. I am planning to do this within the next days. Then I'll post the picture here.

Since my last post here my system configuration changed to:

CPU(s) 2*AMD Opteron 254 Dualcore
RAM: 5GB DDR
Graphics Card:
Primary screen: SVW-II-XT (SGI CPD-G520K monitor 21") DirectX 9.0c OpenGL 2.0
Secondary/third screen: SVW-C-I (1*19"LCD, 1*21" SGI Trinitron) OpenGL 2.0
OS: Windows XP Professional/Windows Server 2003/Sun Solaris 10/ Mandrivia Linux.

You could actually help the FO team make some models, Im sure they would like some additional help and I guess u must be good to have such a workstation :)

Nothing against this person, but in response, equipment does not make a person better at building 3D objects. Skill and practice does, of course I wouldn't think anyone would invest in a workstation if they did not have several years of work behind them.

I personally look forward to purchasing a workstation sometime this year. I started browsing for some for quad processor mainboards even though I don't know what I'd possibly do with it

Well either he is insanely rich and he does not know where to spend his money, or he is good at it and needs such a workstation. I personaly think the second option is the correct one ;)

I think so, too.

RedShirt asked:

Of course there are 2 graphics cards in the workstation, they are listed in my specs. They are not very common so you may have not recogniced as graphic cards.
1. SVW-II-XT
2. SVW-C-1
They are produced by a little German company.
In the attachment you will find a picture of such a card (SVW-II-PRO), it not only looks a lot like a Nvidia Quadro Fx 4000, it features the same memory and chipset but a different GPU and much higher core frequence.

ever since i upgraded my nvidia tnt2(extremely obsolete card) to my radeon this game runs perfectly with an occasional lag because of my old processor, but compared to the way it used to run, i play this game alot more than i used to.
