The downside of fleetops, and the destruction of ideas.

Classic ray.  I have to say ray, I think you're dead wrong here.  The number 1 reason I stay active in the forums and community and play online, etc, is because, as a community, everyone hear listens....as well as our ideas are always entertained.  Go to any other project home and check out the forums.  You very rarely see the developers trolling them for good ideas, and taking the bad ideas out and possibly tweaking things.  

Now, I haven't been a member of the community as long as some of these other folks, but what I see getting shot down the most are statements like "feds are underpowered....please fix them".....or "borg cost too much....please fix them" etc.  I do market research reporting for some big electronics companies and I can tell you right now, if I put generic info like that down....I'd get fired.  That being said, good, constructive feedback is required....i.e something like this

"feds are underpowered because xshipx costs xx amount with xx stats compared to xshipx costs xx amount with xx stats.  'Here is my suggestion for a fix....'"

And posts/suggestions like that will get the most positive and negative feedback from the players and devs.

gotta aggree at pretty much everything here stuff here. But there were a few times here (i read the forum since 3.0PR alr)where i gotta say that some guys here were very unfriendly, if someone didnt aggree on em. Gues thats something that needs to be worked on and thats also were guys thing, they are not wanted or welcome here. But again, overall u were right.

I'm such a lucky moderator and I love this community because of this... on other boards this had been turned into a heavy nightmare flame festival already.

Whenever you feel flamed or treated unfriendly you feel free to PM me and I'll have a solution for you. Promised. So far I have  rarly discovered a person crossing the line.

fleet operations has been developed together with the ideas and contributions from the community since it's beginning. of course it's not like we are accepting every idea into the mod. it's not a democracy, that wouldn't work well.

just like the numerous threads in the past to get the warp from armada 2 back for every ship - i am sure it has been requested by at least 50 if not 100 different people. if we'd have ever done a poll about if warp should be in fleet operations in 2003 or 2004 i am sure the "pro-warp" faction would have been clearly the winner. we have had our well known reasons for why warp is not in fleet operations and still have. we still allow discussions about warp and have never closed any of the threads about it. i remember that actually some ideas in those threads inspired us to enhance the starfleet command warp-in feature like it is now.

countless other ideas have made it into fleet operations and still do, we have written numerous ideas down suggested here in the forum, that we want to include in fleet operations one day. take a look at our project progress site, look at the count of todo's we have there. we have even a separate list, which isn't counted there - with only gathered ideas we thought may be worth a look - and it is again atleast as huge as our todo list.

anyway, i'd say there is no reason at all to let this rant thread continue. i guess everything that had to be said was said. criticism is accepted as long it is constructive and not arbitrary. the first post of this thread alone qualifies it to be closed.
