I doubt there's a law against addon ships, more like people not wanting to be restricted to others with the exact same mods.

Thanks Tyler, that's exactly what I had wrong.

Now I have a different problem. I lost the Proteus when I updated to 3.2.2. I re-added it, and can build it, but  it has no build button. How can I fix this?

Do you have the requied texture and sprite entry for the button?

I believe so. I added everything from the buildable rar file, as well as the main rar file, to their appropriate folders within my Armada 2 directory.

EDIT

*facepalm*
I hadn't edited the sprite file.

I know this is going to sound dumb, I understand what to do, but once I have edited the ODF files in Notepad, how do I get them to save back as ODF files instead of txt documents. Even when I select save as "all files" it saves as a text document with a .odf at the end of the file name.

Just close the file and when it asks if you want to save, say yes. Or just hit Ctrl+S.
And if you still have troubles, you can use Total Commander to rewrite the extensions of the files ;)

Thanks, I still couldn't get it to work by pressing Ctrl+S and if I click out and choose to save changes, it brings up the save dialog box and still saves it as a separate text file with the same name as the file I've modified.

I downloaded Total Commander, but have no clue after spending 10 mins going through the menus how to alter the file extension? I'm assuming it has something to do with "associate with"?

Why not try Wordpad? I use that all the time and get no problems.

I tried WordPad and got the same problem. I've solved it now though, just turned off the Windows Explorer option to "hide known file type extensions" which allows you to change the extension to ODF and save it like that.

Dunno why it doesn't let me do that by default. Thanks for the help, I'll get on with getting this baby in there!

Right click, properties>uncheck read only. Then reopen/edit the file, and save.

Ok, so now I can be even more of a pain. Edited all the files, copied all the folders and the patched ODF folder and stuff. The Proteus appears in game when I call it as a warp in, but it just sits there and can't be controlled. What have I missed?

Sorry for the bout of questions btw, I've never added a ship to FLOPS before - in case that wasn't obvious.

Tyler wrote:A Proteus Class starship for the current version of FO. Uses the converted model by dEjavU, but the textures are a mix of the original by WileyCoyote and the A2 version by dEjavU.

It comes with 2 possible uses, only one of which can be used at a time:
Buildable: Mayson version has Multi-Layer Shields and gains Proximity Torpedoes on rank-up, Risner version has Type-3 Torpedoes & a basic Magnan Phaser Cannon.
Warp-In: Risner-exclusive, replaces the Descent and has Type-3 Torpedoes & a basic Magnan Phaser Cannon.

Tyler knowing the trouble i had with the mckinley yard?

Would you say this is going to be to hard for me to add in?

Shouldn't be too difficult, the Buildable version has all the odfs needed and the entries for the shipyard, techtree and so on.

Is this a version before or after they stopped using the Warp-In ship with W after the filename? 'm not sure, but using that might cause problems since it's not used anymore.
