I have encountered some weired things with the 3.0.6 update.
1. In a match as Fed against Dominion, suddenly all my ships and structures got damaged, all over the map. It was just a little bit of damage to the shields, but it happened everywhere on the map, though i could not see any Dominion ships due to the fog of war. So i guess this wasnt a weapon, or something.
2. in another match against the Dominion i lost several ships with shilds and hull in perfect shape, it happened nearly out of nowhere. I was just attacking some Dominion ships near my base as i suddenly lost 4 Akiras. They started drifting out of control and than exploded. Its normal to loose some ships in a large battle, but there were only about 10 ships on each side and every side just fired its first few shots. I lost 4 Akiras within seconds, wich was quite unusual. There where only some Dominion artilleryships and those small bugships present, so no ships that would kill my crew, or usually be a thread to a fleet of 8 Akiras and two Galaxy class ships.
Other than that the update was good, i especially like the new veteran abilities and the Ambassador class.
keep up the good work!
and excuse my bad english

Sounds like they were rammed by the dominion bug ships.

That's started happening to me all the time... It's fantastic, but I wish the effect were more obvious.
As it is I never see the actual impact and then suddenly a bug ship and my newest ambassador are slowly drifting away. Sometimes it doesn't even destroy the ship, merely leaves it with almost full sheild and a heaavily damages engine subsystem :/
But yeah, it's awesome that the AI uses it against you!

1. You probably upgraded the shields in your research facility, thats why they are lowered just a bit
2. Prolly got rammed by bugs

It’s a pity that the Ambassadors don’t automatically use their shield booster thingy when it’s about to happen. Though it is entertaining trying to fend off a horde of the buggers while your favourite ship mends it’s engines. :pinch:

So this is what happened, i was wondering why the hell i was loosing all my ships. This is a quite cheap way to take down superior ships and i dont like it! It may be a "strategy" that fits to the background of the Dominion, but in a Game? Bugships are so cheap, you could destroy a whole fleet of superior ships with ease and pay barely nothing to do so.
Seems like i have to attack the Bugships first, since they are a thread to my veteranships. This will get my Excelsiors ripped to pices, because while using them i need to destroy artillery ships first. The Excelsior is so weak, against Dominion its nearly useless, because it will be destroyed by sucidal Bugships and the artillery ships. Its speed is the only thing that might save it...

Your not supposed to like people ramming your ships! Count yourself lucky it's only the bugs doing it, imagine the damage a ship like the Battlecruiser or Dreadnought could do.

yea i know, they could destroy a starbase. But the bug ships use this "strategy" nearly every time they get a chance to do so, if they would do it once in a while it would be better, especially for my nerves.
Is this something that came together with the 3.0.6 update? I cant remember the sucidal bugs from the older version...
Maybe its something i have to get used to, though i really dont like it as a feature in a game, it feels like cheating somehow.

AI or player? Because I have never been rammed by an AI.

They do varied damage with ram now (I think). And this version is the first that the AI uses this as well, so maybe thats why you havent seen it yet.

Hi,
I found Fleet Operations 3.06 installed it and tried it. And I really like it, but I can't start FO under wine.
In my opinion the ressource assimilator of the Borg has a too great capacity, the capacity is too great for using more than one ship/moon effective, so I think that a decreased capacity of Dilithium or Tritanium (around 150 units) and decreased buildingcosts are more effective or nearer to "perfection".

If the AI use bugship ramming, will your bugs on high special weapon autonomy use it too? And if so, it would be nice if medium special autonomy made them use it only when they are below half health.

bug ramming.............thats why im getting my ass handed to me by the dominion now. i have to adjust my strategy against them.
also thank you or increasing the attacks on the special ships even though ti makes it alot harder form me. i was wondering why the remores and norways were the last ships to be attacked.

Hehe, a bit too powerful though, even for the Dominion Serpicus
10 ships can level a Starbase, 5 a shipyard ... but it doesn't work everytime haha
