Well, planets will eventually come back to serve in more important roles - although what those roles are are still a matter of what the forum can think of, and what is codeable :). I think that much of that will come "soon"; NPC's are on the horizon, as are map events, more terrain, etc. I believe that although the moving asteroids script was partially removed (wasn't part of it disabled to make some things in FO work? I cannot recall...) a work around might be possible. I'm not sure that orbiting would work however - but you'd have to wait for a response from the devs about that.

Outside of possibility however, I don't think that would be very strategic for most maps. It would probably have to remain a special feature for certain ones as a moving moon implies that the miners must keep up with it to mine and yet still return to a stationary mining outpost. Just because the developers haven't responded doesn't mean they haven't taken note of posted ideas: I've learned to expect that if something isn't possible now, it might unexpectedly become so in the future due to FO magic :)

So what about my Dominion, Optec?  What do my medium ranged bugs get from all these new balance goodies?

Not having Ram removed?

all races get new passives to underline the new balancing :) including the Dominion. I could have made a similar scenario with the Dominion fighting the Romulans.

A redo for Planets is on todo, along with a larger environment change

I'm curious, are we able to make bigger maps with this patch? You know, bigger than 50000?

What about my moon orbiting planets suggestion?  Does that sound like a future addon???

If the moon moves very slowly for mining ships to keep up then I think it actually could potentially be a very good idea. I do think it is possible... the moon would somehow have to be given the classlabel that orbiting mining stations from A2 had. It might cause some glitches but I'm confident there's a workaround. I've been experimenting with orbiting objects alot in my mod since one of the races has stations that orbit each other to generate power.

Great to hear!  Yes, the moons would orbit very slowly.  And, once a miner began to extract ore, it could either orbit the moon, or hover about the moon in some way or form.  But, that is if you only intend to bring back the planets.  Also, you would need much larger maps for large planetary systems.  All in all, a slow (I mean very slow, but not at an almost stand still slow) orbiting moon would/could cause problems from enemy attacks during mining.

Also, originally, you had mining stations that orbited planets.  Maybe that system could be used too.

Looks like i'll have to change my finely tuned tactics soon  :crybaby:

Nah.. can't wait until the new version arrives. When i played lately i actually adopted the avatars which gave a disadvantage against my opponent races just to add a challenge.

Hopefully the new version is an early X-mas present :thumbsup:but we'll just wait and be patient.

What I really want is the updated interface, it looks so cool...  :woot:

What, you don't want 10000 barrels of Raktajino and Blood Wine, along with a fresh shipment of Gakh?

If you stop by DS9, the Gakh will be served to you by a fat Klingon restaraunteer who serenades his customers with Klingon songs (sometimes using a squeezebox for instrumental accompaniment)!

I want an LCARS interface, but so many seem to think it's ugly.
