It's ok.  They had a spare data, with all of data's memories, locked away in the closet.  Kind of like how I blow a tire, but it's ok because I've got an extra.

Those redlettermedia star trek reviews were spot on, in my opinion.  And quite funny.

the show was better than all the next gen movies. the characters completely changed.

Picard went from surrendering to everyone and never wanting to fight anyone or anything

I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE - shooting borg with tommy guns and smashing his display cabinet full of ships. then he goes rambo in nemesis by clubbing reman redshirts upside the head like he is using a cricket bat. there was the awful crying in generations, it was so forces. and he went rambo in insurrection against rofl (i'm not even gonna bother using memory alpha to learn how to spell his name, he's a z-grade villain) and doing janeway style quips. he didnt surrender once in all the movies.

on a separate note, why didnt the magical healing/de-aging radiation in insurrection make his hair grow back?

Marina sirtis just gave up accurately doing that super sexy voice she did for troi in the show, suddenly she sounds like a twat.
