Yes very nice to see a new gamemech that will add debth to the game!! I think it is great that the devs listen to the community since the trading option was requested multiple times on the forums.Does that mean that every faction now will get his own trade dock? (Except the borg of course because it would not fit their gameplay)Good work you guys!!

That's closer. I especially like how you will have to wait for a good deal to get a profitable trade (and how waiting may give you a bad deal). It's more realistic that way. I was never really fond of the instant supply thing. I can't wait to see what else you are doing with the trading system.I do have a few questions though.(1) Why only one trade station? Why not make it so that you cannot trade between your own stations (which would give you infinite supply from finite supply, something that is mathematically absurd)?(2) Will this mean that you can send cargo ships to other trade stations? If not, why?(3) If you can send cargo ships to other trade stations, will those cargo ships be able to carry Supply? Or would the no Supply trading rule be absolute?(4) Why have the trade station just an upgraded storage dock and not a separate station all together?(5) I get the impression that it's easier to trade for Dilithium than for Tritanium. Did I misinterpret the post?(6) Can you start posting demonstration videos instead of or in conjunction with static screenshots?(7) How flexible is this system for stuff like mods? Eg: Would STA2-style trading be possible but with the Biomatter resource being used as currency instead of the Latinum resource. Or maybe the Metal or Dilithium resource?

After all, if you run out of spare parts on your humble Intrepid class explorer, there shouldn’t be a simple “reset button” that allows you to function like new, right... riiiight?
This part made me laugh.

Thanks for the news item!
With the introduction of this trickle-supply mechanism for the Federation, I take it that Warp In is getting a major whack with the nerfbat?

very nice, i like the idea of multiple classes of convoy ship bringing supply, that'll look nice.
can i have some clarification on this bit:
"Well, pay off the nearest Ferengi and get a quick stash of the crystal."
you simply mean trade tri or sup for dil right?
also will this trading be instant? eg if i push a sell 100 dil for 87 tri button, will the resources move instantly, or will a trading ship warp in, dock, and then the trade happens?

thats a good question, do they cost supply now to warp in or cost more if destroyed or something else?

I love that idea. Would work great in KA2 also. So here's to hoping

Finally, a more realistic way of producing Supplies and transform resources, this will prevent resource deadlocks and change the strategies, but what about the other races? Is the same mechanic or not?. I agree with TChapman it would be cool to see videos that shows the new dynamics and give us a glance of the new release.

I like the concept, and the idea of different classes of trading ships, I just don't like how it seems to only be the Federations' thing in this News Post about it. Besides the Federation, in the Star Trek Universe all races except the Borg really traded, hey even the Dominion did so, remember how the Alpha Quadrant and DS9 originally heard about the Dominion? Quark heard something about a powerful alliance known only as the Dominion and sought to open Trade Negotiations with them.
So what I'm getting at is:
The Klingons, Romulans, and the Dominion should get this, not just the Federation.
That way it's fair, balanced and sticks to the Star Trek canon (DS9 canon especially).
Remember what Admiral Ross said to Doctor Bashir when the Romulans joined the Federation and Klingons against the Dominion/Breen/Cardassian Alliance? It involved the trade embargo on the Romulans: "The trade embargo had been lifted." (Something about "perks of the alliance").

Couldn't see any way them trading could backfire... A stream of free supply from both battle/mining and trading.

The other thing of course, lore wise, is that even if the Romulans are totally isolationist and refuse to trade with "outsiders", there is nothing preventing internal trade. In fact, they'd arguably rely on it even more so, as they'd have to supply all their needs from internal sources.

Every race will have their own mechanics regarding "trading" (or something similar, like resource transmutation for borg). The Romulan Empire, for example, is not a federation of member planets with a stellar market. Instead, its an hierarchical empire with a planned economy. You can also exchange resources with the Romulan Industry, but at fixed exchange rates. Yet, you can increase your influence in the empire to gain better exchange rates, as the priority of your sector (or your friendship with the pretor) increase.

thanks for this info. sounds like a good fit for the romulans. will the romulans also have a station for this that needs defending?
