also minds take up a lot of computer space, so this hime will have to be near a large computer all the time, and how fast can he transmit it, it's a safe bet he has fast mobile broadband. he obviously isnt on my network
and the borg wouldnt wanna copypasta drones' minds, only knowledge will help, the mind is run via cloud computing the hive mind anyway.
this nanite virus seems a bit silly too, the amount of nanoprobes needed would be stupidly high and the technology innefficient.
i always wondered why the borg couldnt adapt to getting their bums kicked with blades and stuff, a simple force field around each drone would do the job. wouldnt have to be strong enough to take a phaser shot, but just enough to cushion the impact of a batleth.
He didn't single handedly invent them, he just took the Borg's design and reworked it to the point that it was no longer Borg removing the bits humans wouldn't need and replacing them with more human centric ideas.
Also you forget that most starship computers are massive beyond all comprehension. They can do everything necessary to run the ship, store a large portion, if not all of the Federation's database and execute countless searches against it, run multiple holoprograms, and do this all at the same time. I think it's safe to believe that even the entire neural state of the human brain could be stored on a few core grade isolinear chips. And considering that most Federation tech communicates via subspace (i.e. faster than light) transmission speeds shouldn't really be an issue.
By the way, the Hime is the ship, Petri is the captain.

lol sounds like something pretty amazing even if he stole it from the borg.

in ds9 the computer of a station designed for thousands could barely store a few people, and that was after wiping everything else. so his ship would have to be sitting there with loads of empty space on its "hard drives" to fit petri's brain, which is probably pretty big since he found a way to make borg nanoprobes into his nanites.
it just all sounds too heroic and like the guy is amazing.
Atlantisbase wrote:By the way, the Hime is the ship, Petri is the captain.
my mistake, i was thinking about how he would transfer his brain to his ship's computer. but i transferred his ship's name to his name.
would you describe this guy as dishy?

DS9 was a relatively old station, build in the mid 24th century, designed as a mining outpost run by slaves. It didn't need a lot extra space. On top of that I think Cardassian tech was somewhat behind Federation tech. Besides, I don' think we can really compare current storage capacities to those of the 24th century. We know that their base storage unit is the "Quad" and by Voyager's time, their computers were capable of storing millions of Teraquads. The Hime is a Century class starship, launched in 2402 with 3 bio-neural computer cores. She has more than enough juice to store a human mind.

fair enough, as its the future you can fit as much stuff in it as you want

There is canon to support such ideas. The Vidiian, Denara Pel, had her brain stuck into Voyagers computer with no side-effects for the Computer itself. It could only last a week at most, but did work.

That nanoprobe idea is a bit far fetched. As for the date. 2403/74. That's the Tereanan method for dating. Year/Day.
By the way, the nanoprobe compound that the Borg made is a bit silly, and very inefficient. The Borg assimilate and dismantle vessels. Not assimilate and destroy vessels. However, we can always restart at a particular spot so none of this would have happened.
=== Captains Log - TSS Mountshining - Stardate 2403/74 ===
While we did not get enough tactical information on the tactical cube to find a specific weak spot. We did get enough navigational information from the vessel to find the Uni-Complex. The station's position is 46,321 light-years by 1,318 light-years by 11 light-years relative to the galactic core. The coordinates are being transmitted to both Federation and Tereanan ships. The new multi-frequency shielding seems to be working. Let's just hope the Borg don't adapt. The Tereanans are prepairing to fire a new weapon at the Uni-Complex that will destroy the station in one shot. The details of this weapon are top secret, even from the Tereanan flagship. In fact, almost no one in the Tereanan Empire knows what this weapon is.

Actually I though that would be a very effective way to assimliate both ship and crew. The nanoprobes would be spread quickly and be able to "infect" ship systems and people while eliminating most physical barriers.
*****Adm. Petri - U.S.S. Hime - Captain's Log Stardate 781449.65******
While the Tereanans are making a move on the Uni-Complex, Starfleet Intelligence believes that the information could either be a decoy or that there could be more than one Uni-Complex. Given that the Borg don't usually fall for the same trick twice, I'm inclined to believe that there could be a second or even third. I have ordered the first and second wings of the 2nd fleet to quietly scour Borg space. I have ordered the fourth wing to guard this station while I take the remainder of the fleet, 98 vessels, to the coordinates recovered by the Tereanans.
To avoid a potential massacre, half the vessels will stand by at a distance of 10 lightyears, while the other half provide the Tereanas with cover. Those on standby will be prepared to rush in and provide retreating cover should it be necessary.
We have been able to upgrade approximately half of the 2nd fleet with the multi-layer, regenerative shields, however only a handful of those vessels have the power output to truly take advantage of them. Those that don't will be forced to either run the system at lower output or reduce the number of layers generated. Hopefully the additional layers will make up for loss in strength.
We have been able to give the nanite treatment to approximately 25 people, and 4 of them seem to have a good grasp on controlling them. Fortunately these four are marines. This open the potential for a new tactic. If we can get these people aboard a Borg vessel, they should be able to use their nanites to attempt a hack on the vessel's computers. I have no idea what kind of results this will yield or if it will put these men at risk. However, I, and they, believe the benefits out weight the risks. Should we get the chance, we will transport them to a Borg vessel where they will have 20 +/- 2 min. to attempt their task. If they can't succeed in that time, then they will be pulled out, regardless of their status.
If this mission succeeds, we will have undoubtedly struck the Borg a major blow.

We have come across what appears to be a transwarp hub. We intend on detonating a singularity torpedo inside one of the conduits to destroy the entire hub in one blow. The Borg have not detected our vessel yet. If they do, it'll be too late!

Starbase Commander: If we refuse either?
Alien Vessel: We will destroy your station.
Starbase Commander: Your threats are considered an act of war. Withdraw from Tereanan space, or we'll open fire.
Alien Vessel: It is against Traken law to fire upon one of our vessels. You have one week to make your choice. Choose wisely.
Starbase Commander: Oh, so now you're imposing your laws upon us. IN OUR SPACE! You have 10 seconds to withdraw from Tereanan space or we'll throw everything we've got at you.
Alien Vessel: You will cooperate with us or we'll destroy your station.
Starbase Commander: ALL UNITS, OPEN FIRE!
Alien vessel destroyed!
Ops: Sir, the Federation reports that they have had a similar incident just a few hours ago.

=== Captains Log Supplemental - TSS Mountshining - Stardate 2403/81 ===
We have destroyed the Borg transwarp hub and are now fighting against 28 cubes. Our multi-frequency shielding is holding despite the heavy weapons fire, but we're not sure how long they will hold. Our targeting scanners can only target 8 ships at a time. So far, we've destroyed 3 cubes, 11 more are heavily damaged. The other 14 haven't been fired upon yet. Battle Cube 5 is in the area and is coming to assist. It has about 1.6 times the volume of a Borg cube and a whole lot more weapons that can target a whole lot more vessels than we can. We should be able to finish off this Borg fleet.
Last time the Mountshining ran across half this many cubes was in 2373 when the Borg were running from Species-8472. We had to replace the entire right wing then because one of the Borg vessels collided with us at a relative speed of 1,400 c. Good thing that we're not in the path of a retreating fleet of Borg cubes. Just in the path of an attacking fleet of Borg cubes.

OP?
IRL?
The Mountshining Class vessel has 50 chroniton phaser strips, 4 chroniton torpedo launchers in the front, rear, sides, top, and bottom of the vessel. Not to mention, it has 2 deflector dishes on the front and rear of the vessel, and one singularity torpedo launcher at the front and rear. 280 decks, armor is 3 decks thick.
The multi-targeting scanners allows the chroniton phasers to fire at up to 8 targets at a time. The torpedoes can be programmed to fire at as many targets as there are torpedoes in a volley. Every system aboard the ship is redundant and allows the vessel to remain in combat even if it is heavily damaged. Or remain at transwarp even if one or more coils fry.

*****Adm. Petri - U.S.S. Hime - Captain's Log Stardate 781449.65******
I have re-tasked five ships to assist the Mountshining. This should provide a good opportunity to experiment with our enhanced marine unit.
The search for additional Borg Uni-Complexes continues however the U.S.S. Nightingale seems to have come across something else entirely. They reported contact with an unidentified species. Nothing similar appears in the records of the U.S.S. Voyager so we must presume this to be either a species never before seen, or one new to this part of the galaxy. Perhaps more curios is the fact that their space claims appear to over lap significantly with what we know to be Borg space. Indeed, this raises a number of questions: Have we found yet another species capable of resisting the Borg? Are they in league with the Borg, as unlikely as it seems. Are they responsible for the attack on the T.S.S. Typhoon? Why have the Tereanans not encountered these people before? Their space overlaps with Tereanan space significantly. In fact the extent of their space would indicate that they are a relatively old species, yet the lack of previous contact would suggest that they are a new species which is rapidly expanding and making false claims.
Fortunately the Nightingale was able to take some very detailed scans of their vessel and it would appear that they didn't take notice. Scans reveal that their vessels are heavily armed, but have comparatively poor defenses. Scans also showed energy signatures which are consistent with other Delta quadrant races. This seems to suggest that they steal technology. This species bears all the hallmarks of a small but aggressive race of scavengers, not a major interstellar power. Why haven't the Borg just assimliated them?
Things aren't adding up.

Well, the Mountshining III Class starship was designed to handle any threat it came across. Of course, the Borg always seem to be testing that theory. If the ships propulsion system didn't fry out on their way to Wolf-359 in the year 2367, the Mountshining could have made it to the battle in time to stop the cube. The only three Tereanan ships that did make it to the battle ended up way in over their heads. The chroniton weapons couldn't get through the subspace field around the cube. Afterwards, the Tereanans modified their chroniton weapons to cut-through subspace fields.
=== Captains Log Suplamental - TSS Mountshining - Stardate 2403/81 ===
With additional help from the 2nd fleet and Battle Cube 5, the Borg vessels that were guarding the transwarp hub have been neutralized. The five vessels in the second fleet was able to get some viable information about the location of Borg stations in the galaxy. The Mountshining infiltrated the collective and got tons of additional information on what's going on. The Borg don't seem to happy with the actions of the Mountshining or the vessels in the 2nd fleet that assisted us in the neutralization of the Borg fleet.
After examining the map provided by the 2nd fleet about this new species, it would seem that these people are laying claims to what has already been claimed. And the Uni-Complex is clearly in an area of their claim. The Borg don't seem to have noticed them, however, the Borg have been known to have diplomatic relations when loosing a conflict. Since diplomacy with the Tereanans is impossible during times of war, it is possible that the Borg are seeking help, however, if they have made an alliance with someone, the Borg have been known to break an alliance once the threat is over. Hopefully, the information gathered from the now non-existent Borg fleet will provide an insight to what's going on.
The Mountshining has been called to the Alpha-Quadrant to check out the new Trakans. Apparently, they are from the Beta-Quadrant. However, it appears that they are trying to claim the entire galaxy as their space. There are no references to these Trakans in the Borg databases.
As for this Nekriiti incident, if they are in alliance with the Borg, then they will be considered to be at war with the Tereanan Empire. If they are not, then they're probably just trying to claim more space at once than is possible for them to claim. If they attempt to impose their boundaries on the Tereanan Empire in the areas claimed as Tereanan space, the Tereanans will take it as an act of war. They'll be given a warning before any war is declared against them. The Tereanans will send two cloaked Mounthshining III Class starships to continue searching for the Borg Uni-Complex. Hopefully, they don't have any cloak detection systems. This is a clear act of war, however, if possible, we should try to get to the Uni-Complex undetected.
