when I was going through the warpin files for some modding, I saw that the descent veteran file DID indeed count on the warpin-cap. However, it only counted as 3 warp-in slots. I hope this clears up the confusion

Seems I checked the wrong part (odf cap entry and ship tooltip)... they seem to miss information out.

The Descent tooltip doesn't say anything except the Veteran slots taken and the ship odf doesn't have a Warp-In cap entry, only a veteran one.

The Experimental Warp-In tooltip is the only thing that shows it...

fleetcapclass34 = "fed_descentr6"
fleetcapclass34capvalue = 3

There it is. Right there. Copied straight from the all_cap_warpin file. Solid proof that the Veteran Descent DOES take up warp-in slots

yep, at the moment its only possible for a unit to have one slotcounter visible in its tooltip. thats on todo for the future

I said ship odf, not Warp-In odf.

Huh? I'm afraid I really don't understand what you're getting at. What I saw was you guys discussing whether or not the Veteran Descent, so I copied that entry from the Warp-in odf file. That shows that the Veteran Descent odf is in the warp-in area, and that it does indeed take up space. If you are meaning something else, please explain...?

Rank1 Descent capfile = fleetcapfile = "all_cap_warpin.odf"
Rank6 Descent capfile = fleetcapfile = "all_cap_veteran.odf"

That is an entry in the ship odf (fed_descentr6.odf) that is supposed to determine how many Warp-In/Veteran slots it takes. Other ships that don't have it, don't take up Warp-In slots. It isn't there for the Descent, but that does apparently.

That is why I didn't know it actually did still count.

the fleet cap files can take vessels into account even if they aren't linked from their odf to the file. still, when you build a vessel, only their linked fleetcap file is checked against if it is allowed or not. that is absolutely intended that way. currently it is only possible to define one fleet cap file per craft odf and that was absolutely enough before the veteran ranks have been introduced. so yea, fleet caps will be updated at some time, but currently that would involve to much changes just for this 'cosmetic' issue, so that won't be changed in the upcoming patch but a later one.

ah, yep, now i get the confusion. The "vessel fleetcap" file is only used for construction restrictions, it tells nothing about the caps a vessel counts to and how many slots it consumes
