i believe your talking about BC rather than SFC3, cos all taking out the sensors on SFC3 does is reduce your sensor range. i.e. you can still actually shoot you opponant.

well i hope the big cheeses(doca and optec) will review this idea and act on it, i believe it's a nice idea and also it is doable and won't ruin the balancing system.

Anyway, point is I think the Cube should be at least the most powerful battleship of all the races.

And perhaps Holding Beam should be ineffective against stations. Not only do they not have any engines to hold, transporting is much more difficult and the rewards for obtaining an enemy refining facility or station are much greater than capturing a vessel.

that's true, i think that the holding beam should be eliminated all together, perhaps it could be a special transport that can go trough the shields....?

I personally think it should just be targetted against enemy vessels, not stations.

well I think it is possible to have the holding beam only target ships but I am uncertain. Personally I think the holding beam should be scraped and the sprite effect for it to be used as a phaser like weapon ( based on the borgs methord of using a tractor beam to rip a ship apart)

they do it to everything the holding beam is perfect as it is

You mean like the Borg Cutting Beams in SC3?

The blue beam from the cube is a tractor beam, but the smaller green one is what I mean, the cutting beam.

If you're saying what I think you're saying, it wouldn't exactly be practical to mount those on stations, which is why perhaps we should stick to phasers.

my guess is that much like other species weapons, the holding beam will have varing settings (like the warbirds pulse/beam main disruptor). As i dont think it possible on A2 to mod a weapon in such a way that it is both lethal AND non-lethal, i think that more than one weapon portraying the effects of one "real" weapon is fine and doesn't really need much done to it. maybe fine-tuning, but thats about it.

please don't inslult me, i watched most of TOS and most of TNG, watched all DS9 and voyager, also all of Enterprise, plus all movies.

Don't worry, I'm sure he didn't mean it. I myself only have watched a few TNG episodes, one or two TOS series, but I watch mostly Voyager.

Yea that from SFC3 is exactly what I ment.

I have a good texture for it actually I will post it here as a simple mini mod.

Ok this is a simple mod but it is not compatitible with Fleetops. The entire thing is by me except the texture which is by Rake. It just a simple cutting beam weapon but is pretty powerful but it isn't added to any ships atm.

To add it to a ship open the odf or the ship and add the following

// Cutting Beam
weaponx = "bcutting"
weaponHardpointsx = "hpxx"

replace the x with the appopiate weapon number and hardpoint defination. It may be a good idea to replace the phaser on the borg cube with this.
