One thing I want to mention is to make sure to not let the enemy have a forward base. And if they do get it, don't grind up all your ships against it! A staging area with a shipyard that is heavily defended by turrets and a defending fleet will generally kill you if you don't coordinate against it well. It's better to go around it and hit other targets that aren't so well defended, or make concentrated strikes against only one thing (like the ship yard, etc.), and move out before you lose too many units.
Also, did anyone notice how the risner torp turrets would still target the dominion fighters?

If there is a forward base between you and your enemy i see only 1 viable strategy. Intercept the enemy fleet while it is not near the yard and snipe down all frighters you can. If the enemy has advanced into several exps you should coordinate two small task forces continuously stabbing miners.
The main problem is, if you take your fleet to go around the FB the enemy will hit you right at your main if he is scouting well.

Actually I did, but then I also saw them hitting the B-5's in the same skirmish. I think it's because Turrets have a knack for swapping targets, regardless of their priority. Thus you will be shooting at the high priority and the low.

he wiped out Xerjel's Rhienn fleets each time he used it
How the hell can someone whipe out a fleet of rhienns (I suppose it where dis rhienns as xerj always builds them )? I mean the fleet should either be cloaked or moving around.

i think there may have been lag involved in the game
posted on May 19th, 2010, 8:14 pm
Surprisingly there was few to no lag in the game. Just those peaks when textures are loaded (especially the Borg texture load). I use Artis to exactly counter my N°1 hated strategy. Unit spam of small ships. Well, at least it's effective and absolutely not OP! When you know there is HSA on the map you change your strategy or at least change your tactics from running around with your whole fleet as a bunch to a more loose fleet movement. Being careful successfully counters HSA again. HSA belongs to the first to kill units like steam runners do. They are slow, they are vulnurable. Destroy it.

Hahha!
I've watched most of the epic match between Ray and I that he's got mostly up and I just have one thing to say:
When your opponent asks you in Tunngle what are the counters to your race BEFORE the match starts, you say this:
B-L-O-W M-E.

Or just lie and tell them the opposite.

Hahah I told you that mostly KBQ w/ special and Kvorts would counter my Intreps and mostly anything else I could put out.
Not saying that's why you won ... don't get so testy (i said testy )

I just watched that. Ray, the descriptions for the passives and what they're good against are right there on the passive icons. Just read them, and think about it how that relates to your situation. Fleet Operations has gotten quite a bit more complex due to the passives. That's why there's a table in the guide that tries to help make sense of things. Write them down or print that page out. In fact, I feel a new thread idea coming!
Oh, and *cough* canaverals with EC3M *cough cough*

I just want to mention that this was one of my first times playing as klingons, i am still having trouble learning what units to use, and ive had very little practice with any ships from yards 2 and 3, plus the fact that damn, are klingons hard to micro, i know i was taking losses a lot, but its not like managing 6 borg ships, i had like 20 klingon ships, definently not used to that high activity of micro,
that being said it was a very good game, so when i was taking losses later, my strat was just to harras, prevent boggz from building upa fleet until i could get some more heavy ships, i didnt want to deal with turrets,
i will comment more when the game is up
seeing as two ore post were posted, mal, theres many buttons on those ships, its hard to tell what is passive and what isnt

Drrr, the map is not always huge enough and all the Dommie has to do is spam turrets, perimeters, and b-5s, and there's no way you can do anything against those hyperspaces. They just have to sit right there and slowly snipe away at your base killing all minner's in one shot. If you try to go near them, they'll severely damage your fleet (Akira's, warpins, intrepids, e2s, ect...) and then wipe them out with their b-5s.

I bet HSA gets changed in some way to affect buildings more than ships. It's possible to stop them, but I bet we move away from too many fleet killing units like that.
Ray, just do a couple of instant action games and mess around with the units, write down the passives (which are listed in the guide). Some of us look at the odf files directly, and get a much clearer picture of the damage values. But the guide paints a decent picture of how to counter what.
