Extract to another drive and copy the files over, it's the easiest way.

It's pretty easy. Make a folder called 'mods' in the FleetOps Data folder. Extract the Sigma install. Cut/Paste it into the mods folder. Voila.

i think the problem he's having is that his extraction program can't write to the program files directory. new versions of windoze aren't very nice about letting programs mess with that folder.

i forget exactly which silly component of windoze is to blame here. i have uac turned off, it could be uac doing it. when you turn uac off, all programs are given your user account's level, which is usually admin.

to turn uac off just search for uac in the start menu, only one thing should remain: change user account control settings.

click it, then drag the slider to the bottom to turn uac off.

this is for windoze 7. might be different in vista.

then try do the extraction as you did before.

Great video!
Although I also thought that the Ekoset were kind of the Evil mean super enemies and therefore would play an important role for the Sigma story :).
I tried out Sigma two months ago - would be cool to play it online! Show me how to play Sov - they seem to be extremely weak. I had the impression, armada pathing would give them a hard time to get all of their ships into battle. But in order to do any damage with them you need extreme loads of ships o.O.

I have that same problem when trying to install on windows 7. I just extract all the files to a folder on my desktop and the cut and paste that into the mods folder of FO.

There really is no common super enemy I suppose, when playing as a certain faction others are portrayed as the villains while the one you play as usually has the heroic light shed on it. In that way every faction is the protagonist or antagonist depending on who you play as. I can do my best to write up something on Sov strategy, though seeing as there's still imbalance in the game it's prone to change. At the moment your best bet is to make as many Barter Authorities as you can and purchase the ship packs. The ships that arrive may be randomized but you get four ships for essentially the price of one and is very handy early in the game when you just need cannon fodder to hold off enemy attacks.

if you set your extraction program (7zip/winrar/etc) to always run as administrator, then it should work.

Just double checking, but did you paste all the contents in a folder located in your Fleet Ops data folder specifically called "mods"? The next version of Sigma will have an autoinstaller so hopefully that will make some people's days.

Thankfully it seems more people are starting to play it (or at least are aware of it at MSFC). It's to be expected that this would be overshadowed by Fleet Ops on the Fleet Ops website though.
