Indeed, it has seemed a bit odd, but I guess it's more just because the Outpost is one of the only stations that does seem to have some sort of "back and front" - Starfleet Science is tilted as well, as are myriads of other stations - we just are 'used' to them being that way I suppose.

hmm, I think, as there is no up and down in space, they should have a free angular placement too.

In Universe at War: Earth Assault, the bases can be placed facing any direction. It's quite nice.

Yeah, that's a planned feature for Fleet Ops too

Can't wait to get back to playing. These past few weeks have been hella busy with last minute wedding stuff, the wedding, then the honeymoon! Hopefully I can get on Wed. or Thurs night to play a couple of games.

Finally I got a chance to check out the new release. Great work again, guys!
I never played Klingons 'cause I didn't like their specific gameplay. But now even I have to say that they are pretty cool to play thanks to the new yard-system! I really like it!
With adding more than one Nebula-type to the warp-in you made one of my dreams come true

Hey, I'm new to this site... I currently have a mac computer... and don't think this is going to work for that. But I am also getting a PC, and am just wondering about what I should be buying (is there something I should be looking for in particular if I intend to download this 3.1.0 patch?)
Do I need to buy Armada 2 in any form in order for this patch to work?
When I get a PC, does it matter if it is windows seven, or windows xp, or windows vista? Will this patch work on all of them?
I'd really appreciate a response... I only ever had the first armada which I thought was great, but then my PC broke down, and I went to macs and stopped playing it. But now that I'm getting a pc, and I learn armada 2 is out on a patch.. I'm just hoping to get to play it again.
Thanks for any replies!
Cheers,

Welcome!
Yeah, you will need a legal copy of Armadas 2 which unfortunately could cost more than a PC
the computer requirements aren't that bad though, you could buy a $300 laptop that could run it, maybe $200 Desktop
I would say that at least 2GB of ram, any modern graphics card will work, XP works best, but it runs fine on my Win7 computer
so a bottom line computer could prally run it fine. though it is way better and has better graphics now, a2 is still a 10 year old game, so most computers should run it fine.
And again, Welcome!!

By the way this isn't just a patch for armada 2, it is a stand-alone game once installed, it is just based off the A2 engine. You need to have 3.1.0, then patch with 3.1.3

yeah, stand alone, after you already have the CD

Hey thank you for the replies!
Yes, you are right! Armada 2 costs a pretty penny... but I did manage to find one a little over $100, I am happy with that, it is very hard to find I realize. I just wanted to check things over with system requirements and all, but yes I'll have my own version after ordering it in a week or two, can't wait.
Just to make sure I've got it right, get a Windows XP - it runs well on that, or windows 7 (both work?)
Yes, true the graphics card ... and mostly any card should do nowadays? I was looking and it said it was made for like directx 8.0a or something, with windows 95 - 2000, and I was just thinking, I wouldn't necessarily be able to find a modern computer running those.
But so, anyways, if I get Windows XP, or 7, with modern graphics cards, I'll be good to go?
And then there was the reply that this was a stand alone game install as well... would I just be able to download 3.1.0, then patch with 3.1.3 and still have it work, or do I need the game itself?
Thank you again for your quick replies!

welcome to the forums.
just to clarify previous posts some more, fo has quite low requirements. integrated graphics chips can run it at full graphics with ease.
i have:
core duo 1.87 ghz
2GB ram
integrated i945gm graphics chip (dedicates 224mb ram max)
on win7 ult
armada doesnt use much ram, so my 2gb is far above necessary. 1-1.5 would still easily be enough with xp
so u dont need a modern graphics card at all.
but dont let that stop u buying one if u can afford it, as a modern graphics card will allow you to do advanced stuff like record games with fraps easily and will be good for other modern games.
as for armada 2, unfortunately its an old game, so its pretty expensive if you follow the law. im pretty sure fo can install using an armada cd of any language so dont hesitate to buy a different language if u can get it cheaper. as long as u dont want to play the original game lol.

First, thanks to all for replying, this is very helpful.
Unfortunately I am not entirely good with PC talk... I have a mac and I don't know what all of this means...
I'm currently looking at getting a computer that has the following:
Intel Pentium 4
2.8Ghz CPU (I don't know what this means)
512MB DDR RAM (I don't know what this means, but is this not enough? It sounds like you guys are using 2 GB of RAM?)
however, there is also
40GB Hard Drive (Does this make 512 MB RAM ok?)
CD burner
Sound, Network Card, USB 2.0
Windows XP PRO
17" LCD Monitor (is this ok for screen size? will it play on widescreen?)
and obviously Keyboard and mouse.
I was favouring this computer because it was only $200, and I have ordered a version of the game for a little over $100. However, should I be looking for something with more RAM? I'm sure I could find a deal for something with 1-2 GB of RAM also if I looked around.
It is good to know I don't need a graphics card necessarily.. I probably won't get it if the game will work without it. But yes, it might be a good long term investment to get one.
So, my main question is if the above system meets the requirements, particularly with 512MB Ram / 40 GB Hard Drive - What is the difference between Hard Drive and MB RAM?
Thank you again for your replies, helps a lot!

There is also a computer with the following system:
Dell Gx280 Tower (its called)
with
Intel P4 3.0Ghz CPU
2GB DDR 2 RAM
160GB Hard Drive
CD Burner/DVD ROM
USB 2.0 & Lan
Video & Sound (is this related to graphics card type stuff? it just says video and sound, don't really know what that means)
Windows XP Pro
To me this all sounds great... compared to what I had as a kid with my PC, but now trying to aim it all with working with A2 I just don't know...
haha I would love to play the original Game!! thankfully I found an English Version, thank you though for the suggestions!
