I would love to see self-destruct return, but it raises a lot of questions about how it will work with assimilation, which I'm sure we'll see a lot more of.  I think we should wait until the Borg redo is done to really expect self-destruct if it ever returns.

We'll think about and deal with them when the time comes, probably over a week after patch release day (any sooner and it's easy to summarily dismiss complaints due to lakk of experience with the new patch.) Let's for now not bother trying to predict complaints when so much is going to change. I doubt anyways that a change as minor as a small support ship having one extra phaser is what people are going to blame for a Fedroll when there are much bigger changes to blame.

If self-destruct returns then I'd like to see it as a sub system or at least something which can be disabled.

It can already be disabled, just like everything else attached to the weapons sub-system. Though just boarding a ship too fast too react also works.

Very nice, but I think that FO should have a Power Management like SW: EAW FoC did, that you could set your unit's abilities to either passive or manual, which I think might be better for some people (like me :P)

Or whatever it's called.

The second ability Available is a new one: Targeting Assistance. While Sensor Synergy allows the Canaveral to link its long range scanners to an allied station, Targeting Assistance allows her to link her targeting scanners to nearby combat vessels, allowing their phaser arrays to target an additional target! This gives a Federation fleet with Canaveral Support an amazing ability to deal area damage, especially when they are moving around and most direct fire is compensated by an opponent's Defensive Vessels.

We will take a closer look at the other Support Vessels of the Federation - and her foes - soon!

I feel compelled to ask if it'll work on friendly(captured) disruptors as well, though.

It would be nice to know what is done. Tells you nothing about what is left to do, but at least it would be something. :woot:

personally I love the look of the Cav and the updated power icons and the new targeting assistance ability is just gonna rip face. Do I foresee epic saber/canaveral opening? Yes I do....
