At first I was thinking, "Dom, why did you build a turret. ???  And why do you have so few bugs?  Oh!  You're breen avatar!" :woot:  And then the screen moved up and showed the prototype being built.  Goes to show that I'm still a little rusty. :sweatdrop:  I like that you didn't ram anything, it's a good example of how to play the Dominion well without resorting to the constant bug ramming that we see all the time.

I've got a few suggestions for the players in this particular game, so PM me if you want to hear my thoughts.  :)

The high quality one is better than i would have thought, good job yandoman. What is your video capture program for interests sake?

I reckon some of us should put together a FLOPs cinematic/movie. Would look awesome :P

Maybe wait until the patch though.

Hehe, yeah, I stopped using ram a ways back now after I realized that it was just too powerful and I could get by without needing it :). I know I made a bunch of stupid moves (and spammed way more than I needed too :D ). I just kept forgetting that I had soooo many resources... until I built the Large Construction Yard... then I was out!

The videos are comming out quite nicely Yandon

EDIT: he's using FRAPS Unleash :)

I'm using FRAPs to record and Windows Movie Maker to process them, using the 'Windows Media HD 720p (5.9 Mbps)' setting.

Hey if you're gonna reveal me shamefully mismanaging my Rommies at least redeem me by posting my ownage with the Klingons!

:D

Heh - you're gonna hate me (or think me a liar), but when FO crashed on that last game, FRAPs didn't write out most of the movie (I have like the first 2 minutes and that's it). And I would have posted your win.

But I'll at least say, on our Rom (me) vs Kling (you), I got owned at every stage of the game. From my first pathetic attempt at mining harass to ... well... everything else. There was no point at which I even conceivably had an upper hand. It was all you.

(note: I'm still posting the borg vs klingon one :P )

Lol damnit!  :D

Well yes then please post your Borg destruction ...

EDIT:  After watching that Rommie - Fed game from your perspective it would seem that I actually had the upper hand for maybe the first half.  I managed to knock out a number of ships without losing much.  But of course the second those Excell II's came out the initiative passed to you and I was really playing Fireman defense trying to put out fires.  I think I sunnk most of my resources into tryign to ake battleships when I really should have been making something else.  Not really sure what that would be to stop a fleet of Excel's ...

Aww, Boggz, you should have easily been able to decimate him in that Rom vs Fed game, if only you followed up your advantages and stopped letting his ships live through battle :(

If I had to make a short list of suggestions for both players it would have to be this:

Keep scouts on green alert so they don't fly into weapons range.
Group vessels by class, speed, range and/or abilities. Hence Excel II's should be grouped together, Canaverals and Excel I's ... Griffins together, you get the picture.

For Rommie in particular: don't move onto battleships so early with Helev. You must rely on your Generix Refits and Griffins. At least 10-16 Support Refits, and at the same time build Spectre Refits. Battleships are best built after this, as you must play to your faction's strengths (his battleships are weaker and less cost effective than the small vessels). Great micro early on, not so good later (for instance, letting your vessels get picked off one by one). Keep scouts posted at both sides, as you incurred way too many unnecessary losses early on just because you didn't have ships where you needed them. Also, attack his mining much more often :P. Remember that as cloaked vessels don't regenerate energy, it's best late game to keep vessels uncloaked for longer, as I noticed many of your ships didn't have enough special energy to use their weapons. Oh, finally, turrets for Helev are really only useful early game against those crappy short/medium range destroyers. Against Excels--better spend more money on vessels :)

For Feds in particular: Micro your ships more. I saw way too many vessels get blown up or heavily damaged because you kept all ships in one fleet (aka, not retreating Canaverals after using their specials, or keeping long range vessels grouped with medium range ones... which then wouldn't fire of course). Also try to bunch up your vessels less. Since you relied on a tritanium expensive strategy... might I suggest starting your mining with a tritanium mine first? Most of the time you had 2000+ dilithium... and no tritanium. A Remore or 3 would have helped your cause a great deal I might as well mention :). Excels may be powerful, but that support vessel can let your fleet take far fewer losses.

Hope that helps a little for both of you...  :sweatdrop:

By the way, Tachyon Scan doesn't work for the Canaveral, and it has a 1 minute cooldown ;)

It's kind of nice to have this video, since it is a good way to explain to people that the Federation is not weak in multiplayer.

I laughed when yandoman did a blind warp-in into boggz's base, right in the middle of his defensive fleet!  But then he managed to get 2 of his 3 ships away! (Poor Steamrunner :()  A decent game to watch, overall.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys!

  TO DOM:
Yeah I am just getting the hang of rommies now and that was really one of my first multiplayer games with them.  I know my early game micro well with using wings of forward firing ships attacking in different groups from multiple angles but as the game went on his range ended up causing me some headaches.  I don't feel that I used my cloak effectively as time went on as I was constantly looking around and trying to re-assess a strat.  Didn't really think of mass-producing the Generix's like I should have.  Supports and Spectre's would definitely have worked well against torpedo heavy feds.  Then I kinda got myself stuck in a rut of having him just barely come within range of my ships and back away.

Wish you could have seen from my side.  Of all things I rarely seemed to have the resources I needed despite losing little early on.  I think I just didn't focus my ship-building well enough early on.

  TO MAL:
RIGHT?  I knew he must have been throwing warp-in's blind so I knew I had about 4 seconds to surround them before he could even see them :D

  TO YANDONMAN:
Good games we had dude.  Wish the Klingon-Rom coulda survived.

to DN: I very much appreciate the tips! Feel free to post tips and analysis on any of my games.

to Boggz: Good games indeed. Yeah... I wish it had... I wouldn't have minded some tips on that game. My Rom game certainly could have used 'em.

Nice videos

To all the players whom think that they are loosing because of the race they have chosen i have only 2 things to say :

1st - read the guide - has good tips, explanations, tactics, and so on
2nd - there is the masterpiece the Art of War bie Sun Tzu

All races have strengst and weakneses. Use them to your advantage and shield yours. Also don't crie wolf just because your tactics ( aka gamepay ) was not able to defeat the opponent.

Klingons will be changed in the 308 pach so chill. ( Granted they are hardes to play now, but not impossible to win with )

And one tip to all the players .. learn from your defeats, after all you live to fight another day.
Somethimes do the unexpected, lay traps, and first of all use your braine.

And remember, this is a game, so have fun. ( Don't foget fun is not equla to winning )
