Oh I see what you meant.  You meant that the actual expansions themselves were too close to the starting positions.  Thus the fast tech to battleship-spam set in?

I get what you were getting at  ^-^.

Well, the battleship spam happened because sutee had 4 moon pairs.  I think Dom is talking about the fact that the players could get their spammy spammy short ranged ships out really fast.  And harass without having to defend multiple places.  You're either camping your base or harassing.  There's no expansion (a third locale) way off in the distance that you have to be mindful of.

Sorry Dom but I have to disagree about the expansions.  I really liked how even the starting moons are far enough away from the starbase that you can't expect them to be entirely safe.  That requires more thought to be given to the defense of your bases and how you divide up your fleets (excellent use of this principle demonstrated in this game by several of the Klingons ).  Harassment can occur while simultaneously defending.

Map itself just needs to be a bit more open and I think that it will be excellent! :)

As for your desire to "win" on camera, Nuke ... you've GOT to start listening to your teammates and start understanding when to attack and when to retreat.  You have a bad habit of not engaging enemies to help your teammates and running off when you should fight.  Those are things that you will improve at over time, but those are the things you should really focus on if you want to do better on camera :D.  Listen to your experienced teammates and they will help you!

Lol. I know I really need to listen. You can't really blame me. I've only been playing for how long? A month or two? Still I will try to do what my teamates say. I might play as the Feds next time.  B)

My first video using Camstudio! :woot:

I'm playing as Mayson Feds against a Merciless Dominion AI.  If the quality doesn't look good, set your player to 720p and it should look decent.  Many thanks to Yandonman for his knowledge and patience in helping me make this video.

Edit:  Oh, I removed the cursor because camstudio seems to make the cursor look bad, and it was one less thing for it to have to record. :)

Aww, you didn't even demonstrate the Plasma Coil right off the bat - you had to wait until you had 5 of them :P . Mayson's weak, give me MOAAAAAR!

Well, there's no kill like overkill. ^-^

I'm on my laptop right now.  When I get back to my desktop I'll play against two merciless AIs.  You could tell I was falling asleep against the one.  Did you see how I saved that one ambassador?  Took a few norways and recharged its special so it could survive long enough for my newtons to repair its engines and retreat out from under that starbase.  Navyguy would be proud. :D

I've got some ideas for fed changes, and I purposefully spammed the vessels I did to demonstrate Mayon's complete lack of need to touch the chassis upgrades.  He's a complete snob when it comes to spending money on upgrades! :schmoll:

  Really an awesome game overall!

I want to take this moment to point out a few things:

1.  The Klingons were very easily able to control the early-mid battles because Baron did a marvelous job of fielding a mixed and balanced fleet with support ships.  His excellent use of Qaw'Duj using Polaron fields, Vorcha's acting as damage soakers, with KbeajQ and Kvort striking the vulnerable ships let him come out on top in battles where he had poor odds.  The same applies to Raven after he began to field Remoores.  I think that a couple Canaverals using Sensor Blackout would have helped the top team immensely earlier on instead of relying on Warp-ins unsupported.

2.  I noticed that Stardust ended up without a fleet by the end.  This is something that ALWAYS happens to me and Star does it too: where you are so busy micro-managing your ships in battle that you forget to build anything else back at your base.  Everyone should remember to always look back and build!  :D.
