Leave as is  - 16 (31.4%)

This isn't some sort of proportional representation. Only one option can win.

Isn't it amazing how people "change the rules" when they don't get the result they want?

If that's what you wanted to show, then you should have made the poll like this:
- Saucer Seperation
- No Saucer Seperation

The poll that you have made shows a good majority for "Leave As Is".

The solution to your problem is this: As most people are happy with how the game already is, and you want it changing, you can always change it yourself, on your own copy.

Atlantis is right... and mainly cause people want the trek experience, but also a game they can sit down and play without a 5 hour tutorial. ATM its easy to sit down and play. If you play a few games you can get used to a race and then play online. Not with all this fiddely stuff.

Yes i voted for sourcer sepperation. But for two reasons. 1. I like the idea 2. Iv been playing RTS for 10 years and dont mind the fiddely bits, but some people will, as is evident in the thread.

I just don't see the purpose if it was realistically implemented.

Seperation could be a special weapon similar to the Tricobalt Triloader; click the button, click the target and it'll seperate for so many seconds then rejoin. What about that?

That would make sense for the Prometheus imo. But the Galaxy class doesn't have any combat potential to *gain* when it separates...I mean the purpose of it was to save the crew.

What I could see added to the Galaxy is what was discussed previously - some sort of Boarding ability. Shoot-Shields-then-Board ability, passive stronger boarding parties - something like that. That doesn't need separation, and would still give the Galaxy a unique ability.

Not entirely, that is what many people here have been trying to say. It has been proved in the shows that separating can give a tactical advantage. The only reason it didn't happen more often was due to production costs.

The stardrive section would have to have a small crew as most would be evacuated to the saucer, so would lose efficiency faster as the crew get killed.

The only downside. Plus that same downside would also make it easier to assimilate.

I am taking note of all the discussions and suggestions contributed by forum members and I am going to draw up a petition for the Galaxy Class. It will have saucer separation, it will be buildable at a yard, and it will have several abilites discussed and presented by forum members thus far. I do not particularly like the voting system because it's subject to controversy and can as the current poll sits there are too many options to vote for. The petition will avoid the ambiguity of voting and forum members will have the choice of signing the petition or not signing the petition....simple, legit, and straight forward.

However, I need more input from forum members before I draw up the petition. For instance, some of you have argued that the stats for the Galaxy as a whole are too high. That's fine but tell us what you think a reasonable offensive and defensive value would be for the Galaxy as a whole, stardrive, and saucer section. I don't believe separating the Galaxy should half the combat values. We're not taking a chainsaw and cutting the ship in half. Each section is capable of operating independently of eachother, therefore each section should have offensive and defensive values that reasonably reflect their combat capabilities.

What I believe is the stardrive should retain most of its combat strengths over the saucer since its primary purpose is to stay and fight while the saucer seeks safety. On the other hand, this does not mean that the saucer will be completely defenseless since we know it retains the primary phaser array and aft torpedo tube. However, it should have a reduction in combat values since it relies on power from the impulse engines only and lacks forward torpedo tubes.

The saucer would have a troop transport ability, but in the interest of keeping the game balanced the combat boost for troop transport should be researched at a yard or at Starfleet science. Does that sound like a good idea?

BTW, some of us have noticed that no Fleet Ops team members have posted a response to this thread. We would very much appreciate it if you would share your thoughts and ideas with us. For the most part, a good number of us have agreed on making a few changes to the Galaxy Class to make the game more balanced and accurately reflect the canon abilities of this particular class of ship. More importantly, how many signatures would you need to pass a petition for the changes to be made in
the major patch?

A petition?! You're really going to take this so seriously? There are people out there changing the world, and then there's this...

The main point it simple: This is Doca & Optec's mod, not yours. If they wanted it in, they'd've put it in. The topic was brought up before, and they rejected it. Therefore, if you want it, just do it yourself.

People are changing the world? What's the point of telling me that? Are you changing the world?

If Optec and Doca Cola don't want to accept a petition then I want to hear it from them, not someone who can't make the call.
