okay then the galaxy should at least have better firepower then the excelsior, and better defense then the defiant
Firstly, from memory alpha:
'While the Technical Manuals themselves are not canon, they are Memory Alpha permitted resources. '
It does have better firepower than the Excelsior.
The Excelsior II however is far greater than an Excelsior or even the Lakota refit! (At least defense wise). The galaxy class does not have particularly powerful weapons. Photon Torpedoes and Type X phasers, which are now 'standard' rather than cutting edge. It is fast, more crew efficient and has Quantum Torpedoes and perhaps even type XI or XII phasers! It's a capable combat ship. The Galaxy is not far off in firepower and is superior in defense. But the earlier proposed values of 40 and 45 or whatever are ridiculous!
The Galaxy class is a sturdy vessel, no doubt! But the Defiant class has Ablative Armour! As well as both Quantum Torpedoes and Pulse Phasers. I seriously don't see where this debate is getting steam.

During the Dominion War, the Galaxy Class starship, including the USS Venture received shield, hull, and weapons upgrades. A visual inspection shows that the USS Venture was upgraded with two nacelle phaser strips; Galaxy Wings 9-1 and 9-3 simply blew away a Cardassian Galor Class Destroyer with ease. Several other Galaxy Class ships were seen with darkened spines and whitish deflectors which may suggest additional refits (War Galaxy). After the USS Odyssey was destroyed, StarFleet realized the weakness around the deflector dish and reinforced it with additional hull armor. It wasn't ablative armor, but they still got an upgrade.
Now lets focus on actually implementing these improvements into the game.
So the Galaxy as a whole would have slightly more offensive value than the Excelsior-II but less defense than the Defiant. It would retain the type 3 torpedoes except it wouldn't reduce firing rate or shield recharge, it would have some sort of moral or tactical boost for the fleet, it would be able to saucer separate, and have a higher scan range because it is an Explorer type vessel.
The Galaxy Stardrive would also have the type 3 torpedo ability, gain an increase in maneuverability, and faster firing rates for phasers and torpedoes.
The Galaxy Saucer might gain a slight increase in maneuverability, have an aft torpedo launcher, and house marines with some type of troop transport special ability for fleet support.
Galaxy Class
34 Offensive Value
36 Defensive Value
17 System Value
Galaxy Stardrive
30 Offensive Value
35 Defensive Value
15 System Value
Galaxy Saucer
23 Offensive Value
20 Defensive Value
14 System Value

With those stats why don't they just never have the hull unseperated...

Looks pretty well thought out. The saucer certainly looks like it could be more useful than the old Iwo Jima Class, though it should have some kind of limited Phaser array.
The saucer seems unarmed and some people might not like seperation, so only some would use it.

Where does it get its offensive value from then?
Other than that, for me those stats for the galaxy class (unseperated) are acceptable, only if you limit the special bonuses a bit Or make it more credit costly.

It doesn't list any weapons, aside from the marines.

I know it doesnt, but in order for it to have an offensive point at all, it needs something lol.
Im sure he forgot to write it has phasers

And he even mentions the aft torpedo launcher so I don't think its meant to be unarmed.

Good point, though Hazard Team could probably make up those points by themselves.

Those Galaxy stats are ridiculously high.

Well IDK, what are its stats right now? I can only maybe see a prob with the offensive stat (as the sovie has 36), but defense seems reasonable to me.
Also those 3 seperate targets is a bit strange. I dont ever recall a Galaxy firing at 3 targets at once (though Im sure someone will correct me on that )

Right now, I cannot remember a time it multi-targetted. It wouldn't be strange if it could though.

Surely separating the galaxy class would split its offensive value in two ? I mean it doesn't grow extra torp tubes while separated so surely the weapons are split over the two sections. and I don't think the galaxy should be quite that powerful personally I think that the feds are already an overpowered race as it is and the galaxy class was an overgrown science vessel not a war ship.
And saucer separation serves no purpose in the game either it was used in an emergency to evacuate the civilians the saucer basically had no weapons after being separated if I remember right as most of it's power supply was used to keep the shields up as it had no warp core. I don't understand why people want it it's not going to increase the effectiveness of the ship, nor will it provide some game play bonus it would just be a waste.
The galaxy class deserves nothing more than a small increase in defensive and offensive values.
Anyway that's just my 2.9156 pence.
