To Quote Optec:

"Saucer Seperation is no military attack pattern or something like that. a splitted galaxy is far less effective in combat then a combined one (taken from the Galaxy Technology Book). Therefore seperation wont make it into Fleet Operations as a special ability, but perhaps in some other way"

It was never rejected then. Let's analyze this quote again.

Therefore seperation wont make it into Fleet Operations as a special ability, but perhaps in some other way

He said it won't make it into Fleet Ops as a special ability, but maybe in some other way. That means its open to suggestion.

We've also determined from the facts that saucer separating the Galaxy can be valuable asset in tactical engagements against the Borg and against Echo Papa 607. Riker and several other crew members even suggested separating the saucer in a number of other episodes.

The only problem is how saucer separation would be implemented into FO. I am sure the FO team is open minded to any ideas.

and to whoever said that i was changing things to make it appear that more people want seperation, im not, i put down 3 things with seperation in them, while some of there details of how the ship is built are different, the people who voted for them want seperation, so right now, more pole want seperation then people who dont

hey would one of you fleet ops team guys mind commenting on this? id just like to hear your guyses thoughts

Why does the poll include bits about shipyards and credits? Isn't it be about seperation?

Its annoying because the people who want seperation outnumber the ones who don't want it, but you can't see that at first glance because its split up so much.

well, it has that because right now its warp in, and i dont like that, and i created the poll, i can make another one

ok heres an idea. I hope it will fill both sides of the argument.

When the galaxy is below 25% health, the ability to detatch the dish is then enabled. But to make ppl atleast try to follow its use, if the dish is retuned to a shipyard for repair it gets its stardrive back.

what do you think?

Or you gould just build the two halves yourself. They start with the name 'Unassigned Saucer/Stardrive section' and adopt the name of the original.

Are you aware that what you quoted doesn't actually imply that it definatly won't be in?

Because it shows that people do have the ability to use their skills to do great things. Instead, you're wasting your ability on whining about this. The point in telling you that is to point out that this is pretty pathetic. Put it into perspective. You're whining about one little feature (out of thousands) from a mod for a computer game.

Clear enough for you?

But it has ruled out the options discussed so far, aside from Snapshot_9's, which I think is pretty good.

I think that, when separated, the nearest Starbase emits a homing frequency to automatically bring the Saucer to relative safety, and, if the Stardrive is destroyed, it automatically decommissions. Hows that?

That could work too.

I was thinking some more about Snapshot_9's suggestion, about it separating and returning the saucer to base if the health drops below a certain amount. This would make it a bit unbalanced, as you get another free heavy capital ship whenever you lose one (unless the enemy catches up with the saucer). In which case, if you did make saucer separation work like this, I'd certainly be against making them buildable. A fleet of heavy ships that keep being resurrected? Nah, keep them as a special unit, with this "quirk".

I agree, it does sound like a descent idea (except the decommission part).

Decent or Descent? As in an idea for that class?

Typo, I meant decent.
