See, it's amazing what you can do when you realize there are other ships besides the Generix! Maybe it's not a game balance issue after all!

Yes I know they cost the most...but it unbalances early-game alot if you cannot reduce opponents mining operations while he can. I can kill 2+ non-Borg miners in less than 30 seconds with most early game ships...for a Borg miner you need more than 1 minute. The tournament however will show some of the open issues in balance i guess...

borg ships are generally slower to respond to attacks on their mining. and their turret is also rare to see. so the minute for 1 miner is worth it and quite possible.
now we are quite off topic, lets return to topic.

Oh and just for the record:
Here's a list of how the matches (those who have supplied information) have gone thus far.

Pfffff... I think the tourney map needs to be changed to The Outlanded Outposts or maybe boggz can make a new map that isnt so borg/ fed friendly

Ok heres the problem with borg. They can get ships sooooo easily and dont even require an expansion. And since expansions are sooo far away on duel, you're basically screwed .

Yes, after seeing so many games be played on Duel we're starting to see that the Borg can benefit IMMENSELY from not requiring an expansion for their initial battle fleet (3 Scubes / 2 Probes).
Federation are able to rapidly deploy a phaser turret to secure an expansion that cannot be destroyed by an early attack.
So basically, if against a competent Borg, the only race that can actually set up an expansion is the Federation.
I have to be honest that one of the biggest problems is the map itself. The distance of the expansions is causing the Borg to have a distinct advantage. The nebulae themselves are not such an issue until multiple spheres are out, nor are they close enough to REALLY cause a problem, but dancing spheres can indeed make broken use of them if there are 2 or more.
The issue is really the distance. That, and I've also been hearing people mention that the bottom position is much stronger than the top. This may actually be due to the fact that the middle dilithium moon is slightly closer to the bottom while the tri moon is closer to the top. Since the di moon is generally more valuable, it does give them a slight advantage.

i like bottom because unlike the top borg freighters do not get stuck trying to turn around and cuz the dev's refuse to change the movement never gets fixed.

yeah i agree... in top miners get stuck if you send them to di moon thru your conduction matrix
that can be fixed my building it elsewhere but that would make it too vulnerable or you would loose precious time
bottom position seems to have more room for borg to protect uplinks etc
