I use compatibility mode for A2 and it runs fine. But we have the same issue for FO 3.1.5. So lets hope one of the devs see this and address it. I hope others will post if they have this problem or know of a work around for it.
I am anxious to create some maps! The planets and the suns look awesome in th3 3.1.4! Just being as patient as I can...................
Just tried A2 in compatibility mode and it runs fine. I thought id allready done it, but I must of forgot.

Cool,
But FO still gives you the "APPCRASH" from Windows, right?
Anyway, this is something with FO and Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. Not sure why, but maybe it might have something to do with the way Ultimate opens files. Or it is something with the FO files that Ultimate doesn't like. Either way, I hope someone addresses this.

Running fine for me, Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, I don't have to do anything special to it at all.

That's good to hear. Then there is something wrong with my system set up. Or there is something wrong with my hardware, although I doubt it. Maybe the 10.12 drivers I am using don't like FO. The 11.1 drivers have issues so I am waiting for the 11.2 drivers. Still, it might be a GFX driver issue, so maybe I will revert back to 10.8. That might get her working again.

A few questions and things to try: Have you tried "Run as administrator"? Do you have UAC on? Now the weird one, have you tried disabling your sound card? I know that last one is odd but I've seen stranger things...

Yes. Admin is on. UAC? What is that specifically? I will try to disable my sound card but it worked perfectly with 3.1.4. so I doubt that is the problem. The only significant change to my system was the GFX card (driver) and MoBo/RAM.

UAC, User Access Control. Here's a link to turn it off Disable UAC but now I'm thinking that's not the problem. I must have misread earlier because I thought that this was a new install of Windows. If the only system change is the new graphics cards then that kinda points towards it being a driver issue. Can you use an older driver?

UAC is off.
Yep, it sounds like a bad driver problem. I will change (revert) the driver back to 10.8 and see if that gets her going. if it does work, I still think FO needs to work on driver access with the newer cards because the new AA/AF and MLAA are AWESOME! No more jaggies to any of the models now. Hope they can work that out.

I have tried disabling my soundcard and it still wont start.
Now here is the weird bit, I installed XP 32bit in dual boot and reinstalled all my drivers etc just on the off chance.
The game works perfectly fine!!![Blink ](/forum/images/smilies/blink.png)
Explain that one?

Not really. Kind of a silly way to play one game lol
At least it rules out harware issues...

Silly question but did you guys try running Flops without the new loader in 3.1.4 and using compatibility on the exe ?

Yes, I did and it gives that same APPCrash Error.

Hmm that's extremely odd, I assume you followed the instructions in the other thread on how to do it.
I know the ^ statement comes across condescending not meant that way just wanna cover all bases.
The thing is I doubt it's a 64bit issue as well, it must be driver related. You tried reinstalling Drivers / Dx9 / VC redistributable ect ?

I do believe it is a driver issue. GFX card driver to be exact. I have had no time to revert my drivers yet, but I am going to revert back to the 10.8 drivers that worked before. I will see if that works when I get a chance. I would still like a dev to comment on this. At least they would let us know they are aware of the problem.
