is there some text shown below the buttons? are you able to click "next" on that screen?

Yes, it allows me to continue to "install" but when I click that, it gives me an error saying that it needs the executable from the CD or a previously installed version of Armada 2.
Thanks for sticking around and helping me out. Once I get this bugger installed, I hope it runs. Hate to get through all of this and have that damned "appcrash" error again.

If it's the "appcrash" bug, then it could be almost anything. But, we were getting close when DC asked me for the files "appdata", which I do not have. That file is created when the game first starts, so something is preventing the game from writing this file, or something like that. Just don't know whats up. Hoping he will get to us soon. I am itching to play with the map editor.

Yeah I seen that above - very strange. Im not getting any messages except the system report that it sends to FleetOps? But it isnt even starting so may be what you have said???
Ive got 3.0.1 on my older laptop that Ive not used in ages - ran it on the laptop and it works fine. Copied the files to my Window's 7 PC and nothing - same issue - it wont start.
I've tried running the old version and the new version in capability mode but nothing

well it could be something causing the game to crash, not related to the writing of the user data files, just occuring before the writing of that data.

Yep,
Appcrash can be anything. The game doesn't even start. It just shuts down with the appcrash. I sent Chris my DMP file, so I hope he can find out what is going on soon enough. My be a Windows 7 x64 Ultimate issue.
Since I have done a clean install of 7 x64 Ultimate, I have had issues with games. Might be something up with my 7 install. Could also be a worm. Something Dr. Spyware missed.

After some investigation we've found that it is an incompatibility with WindowBlinds. If you add an exception for Fleet Operations everything should work properly. We'll also try and make them get along in the future.

Yep CONFIRMED!
It's Windowblinds! Hope you guys can fix that. I know your busy with more important stuff, but that would be great if you could fix it!

this seems more to be a problem on windowblinds side. for testing i have stripped the fleet operations dll from all functionality but some standard units that are required to show the shell dialogs later on and the crash still occours.
windowblinds doesn't seem to like "CallWindowEx" being called from DLLMain, maybe as it doesn't has loaded or initialized all it's other dll in the process at that moment (just a guess). i am not sure if we can even fix that without a 'dirty hack'. this is more a thing the WindowBlinds developer should take a look at i'd say. i have used WindowBlinds myself a few years back and it wasn't the case that everything ran smootly back then with it, too. Looking through their support forums for hints i found there similar issues with other programs discussed.

Thanks for this info DC.
Funny thing is, I had Windoblinds on before and FO ran just fine. That's kinda strange since your saying the calls for the proper dll's aren't working right. I will test other games I am having issues with and see if they too start working again. Thanks again DC.

not sure, probably this issue will be fixed in a future WindowBlinds version. more programs than just fleet operations should be affected by that

Most of my newer games seem to be running just fine. It is the older ones that are having problems. I will go onto the Windowblinds sight and see if there are working on a fix for this. Thanks again DC!
