OK,
New GFX drivers has same issues. Been reading up on "APPCRASH" errors, and they are numorus. Could be anything. I have bought and used a reg cleaner along with the latest anti spyware program. Still, I get the appcrash error. Any devs locking into this?

Did you try to revert your GFX drivers (roll them back)? I will try that when I get a chance, but I doubt that this will solve the problem.
Like I said, "appcrash" could be just about anything. Been reading up on it, and WOW, there's a lot of stuff that can cause this. Most "appcrash" errors are solved by reg. cleaners, but this has not worked for Fleet Ops. Need a dev to chime in on this. Don't want to put FO down for good when I can play original Armada 2 just fine.

Confirmed;
GFX driver roll back has no effect on whether the game will load or not. I think the team broke something on the latest build. Hope the next build works out.

Update:
Older GFX card works. So the problem is the new 6870's I am using. Anyone out there using the latest GFX cards?

Ok, I take it that I am one of the few that is running the latest GFX card. I am hoping that the devs fix this then. It is something to do with either the new cards architecture, or the drivers (or both).
Hate to say good by to this project, but I can't seem to play it anyway. Here's hoping that the future will fix this issue with the new cards!

Well it still wont play for me. Just upgraded my system and I still get the 'APPCRASH' error.
I think now we can rule out specific hardware issues, hell it still works under XP, so if it were hardware related it would not play.
Its got to be something with the drivers and windows 7 that this mod does not like....shame![Cry :crybaby:](/forum/images/smilies/crybaby.gif)

I got a NVIDIA GTS 450 and the game works fine for me with quite the latest drivers
@ Win7 Ult. 64 .
Armada2.exe at WinXP SP3 compability mode ... nothing else.
I had errors before as well, deinstalled it ... checked from 3.1 to 3.15 FOs if it runs and it works fine now. Sorry about that you guys cant play it -.-
cheers

Thought 3.2.0 would be the fixed for me, but alas, nope! Still the same "appcrash" when trying to start the game. Game loads fine, but I get the appcrash when try to start the game. Guess none of the mods care about this since none have chimed in on it. This is, most problebly, an access problem with the new GFX cards.
AGAIN, does anyone around here have one of the newer ATI 6xxx series cards? If not, then that is the reason. If you wish to continue to play this game, you will need an older computer and GFX card.
Have to say good bye to this for now until some real feedback comes my way.

have you tried to delete your game settings?
You can find your fleet operations settings folder under XP
C:Documents and SettingsApplication DataStar Trek Armada II Fleet Operations
or Vista/7
C:UsersAppDataRoamingStar Trek Armada II Fleet Operations
note that these folders may be hidden in the default configuration of Windows.

Update: That file does not appear to be there. I "unchecked" the hidden folders option and still nothing. I think you are on the right track though. Anywhere else this file might be? I have 2 HDD's. FO is installed on the D: drive. Could that have something to do with it?

I can confirm that the game will not start with me using a HD5770 and a GTX460, so it has to be something else as others ae running with the latest cards?![Sad :(](/forum/images/smilies/sad.png)

Have both of you done a system search for it yet? FOData is the filename.
